Not scared. Vandy is a no name team that everyone thinks of as a bottom dweller. That are much better than their reputation. Those are the teams you do not want to play. Beat them and the narrative is, oh it's Vanderbilt, they suck. Lose and it's you lost to that lousy team! Much better to play a name brand team!

I get what you mean by that. But I think Vandy did a great job of capturing their time in the spotlight. It might be part of the meme culture, and the fact that people love on them for hearing bama, but I would say people in their minds have Vandy as a respectable team THIS year.

Agree. Duke to Gator over Tech or Va Tech to Mayo over Tech is just plain insanity. We could make a strong argument on why we should be chosen ahead of both of those teams to a better bowl.
Strength of schedule obviously is not a consideration.

I agree but only the informed college football fans. Casual fans have no clue what made Vandy a good team this year. Folks who follow the B1G laugh when Vandy is mentioned, They think of a bad version of Northwestern. The Big 12 has no clue about Vandy!

It would be a very entertaining game with two unique offenses. Still Michigan would a much better opponent!

Yeah, I get it's a beauty contest anyways and there's no strict pecking order, but it is annoying that Duke (and other teams, but they're the best example) are likely headed for a more desirable bowl than us because they padded their nonconference schedule with 4 easy wins to go along with a ho-hum 5-3 in ACC play (zero wins against ACC teams over .500 in conference, including the H2H loss to us.) Nothing new, and we still should point the finger at ourselves more than anyone for blowing the uga game and locking in a Gator or Pop Tarts appearance, but it's still annoying.

How much do think potential ratings influence the selection, vs. fans in seats? Our viewership numbers this year should work in our favor.
Seats - Would think Pop Tarts and Gator care a lot about this. Sun Bowl - ratings. I don't think anyone travels in large groups there because it's so expensive to fly into. They get ticket sales from the locals. I could be totally wrong though.

Maybe they’re a bigger brand than I thought.
But looking at their record, I just don’t want to play them. They’re a strong team. We need somebody more volatile lmao
Like USCal.. and LSU.. perfection.
USC came to our house and left a broken team. Their fan boards and the LA media were in a 5-alarm meltdown after losing to us. They were No. 11 at the time.

We were competitive with Penn State until their last possession. A highly questionable pass interference call on their final scoring drive had a huge impact in their game. We lost by 1 point which sucked. We also scored the most points on them by any team till that point in their season. They were No. 4 at the time.

After a ****ty first half we came back AT Michigan with the chance to go ahead on an onside kick. We made the kick but the side judge made a very questionable offsides call that negated the play. The B1G permanently changed the rule around where the officials line up after that call and game. Unfortunately they did not pull the flag. Lost 24-27 but consensus was we had a great chance to score or at least tie to take to OT all taken off the table by the penalty. We thought Michigan was better then but the rest of their schedule showed where they fit in the B1G+. Plus they did beat O-H-I-O State...

Yes, we went off the tracks against Rutgers and lost to North Carolina. That said, I watched the UGA-GT game and saw us in spades. That is meant to be a compliment. Did not see Miami-GT but you guys did the job.

Agree with Sluggo. Certainly there are better targets for GT and good luck. Hope you get them. That said, I think a rematch to 2018 would be a good watch. All signs point to Minnesota in the Mayo. Hope Tech can do better but if not let's play for the BLT Trophy

We say "Ski U Mah!" You say "Sting 'Em Jackets!" What's not to love about football?

So I trekked over to your board to check out the enthusiasm for a game with GT. Other than yourself, there is none. I did see a lot of posts derogatory of the ACC though. Pretty bleak, if you ask me.

We won’t get the Mayo Bowl. They dislike us up there since we destroy their quaint little football teams too much. We are 14-7 collectively against NC teams in the last 10 years, and that includes 3.5 throughly crap years of TFG.

I’ve only noticed this year that their QB is a short, tough nut who brought a decent WR with him from out west. That is all
Look at some YouTube video of Vandy’s offense. They brought in the OC from New Mexico State with the QB and about 5 offensive players.

Tons of motion, counter plays, options and triple options. The QB is a wizard in the offense.

Fun to watch. Worth the effort.

This is in no way a typical Vandy offense.

Yep, most of the enthusiasm is on where and not who...and of course where determines who the who will be. There's a poster who has specifically named no GT in response to me who prefers VT or Duke. Another poster questioned why no love for you guys but that's about it.

I guess it goes with the territory of being a middle-of-the-pack team in an 18 team conference with 11 bowl tie-ins. Our excitement level is not being in Detroit, New York, or Phoenix...and we had a shot at Florida until we lost against PSU...

Guess we'll see on Sunday.
