These projections coming out for us to play Tulane, Army, Minnesota are kind of disrespectful. I know those are solid teams with odds to beat us. But we got a LOT of views this year. I kept hearing on the radio that the Miami game was one, if not THE most viewed game that week.

I think we are seen as a team that can compete with anybody, and an upset team people want to tune in for. Bigger SEC and B1G brands will know that when our name enters their bidding conversations.

Florida, LSU, Arkansas, USCal, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska are all better possibilities to me IMO.

Also don’t forget we play Colorado first game next season. Could be quite the TV story line to have us face off and have a rematch.

Florida, LSU, USCal,
Why the Minnesota disrespect? They had some off the most watched games this year, too.

Maybe they’re a bigger brand than I thought.
But looking at their record, I just don’t want to play them. They’re a strong team. We need somebody more volatile lmao
Like USCal.. and LSU.. perfection.

Also factor in that there will be instances where teams don’t want to play us and have asked their conference to work in their favor. I think they know that Ole Miss was considered to have boat raced UGAg and we dwarfed their O (397 to 563 total yards).

They also know this GA Tech team is pi$$ed having had that game literally ripped from them.

Our Jackets have a lot to prove in this bowl game. I think a lot of “names” out there know that and, frankly, don’t want to play us.

The problem is that our record is 7-5 and the conference basically just decides who goes where. We aren’t likely to get a good game.

GA Tech is 7-5. The following P4 schools are within a game of us:

LSU 8-4
TAMU 8-4
Florida 7-5
Arky 6-6
Vandy 6-6
Oklahoma 6-6
Iowa 8-4
Michigan 7-5
Minnesota 7-5
Rutgers 7-5
Washington 6-6
USC 6-6
Nebraska 6-6
Baylor 8-4
Kansas 8-4
TX Tech 8-4
TCU 8-4
West Virginia 6-6

There are a lot of potentially great games in that group of 18 teams.

The conference talks to the bowls, and tries to make the bowls as happy as possible.

Louisville is getting a great bowl. Clemson is getting a great bowl (assuming the don't make the CFP).

Duke arguably should be ranked, and we might get a better bowl than them.

Cal will possibly get a better west coast bowl than you woul expect, because they're a west coast team.

We should draw fans and ratings.

What bowl is picking BC, Pitt, UNC, or NCST over us? Even VT? Duke?

We're a strong 7-5 too. Two of our losses are away and neutral field to current top 5 teams. Two are road losses to ranked top 4 conference teams.

Tech is a hotter commodity than most right now. With viewership up, a popular QB, a top-20 recruiting class, etc., I could see one of the Tier 2 bowls wanting us over say a Duke or VT. Duke's Mayo Bowl has already tweeted something critic about Va. Tech... wouldn't be surprised at that destination. Duke has 9 wins, yes, but 4 of those wins were at the beginning of the season against opponents who are in the bottom 20% of the rankings.

Colorado is going to the Alamo Bowl where we have no access too. And Sanders and Hunter are 99% not playing unless they're stupid.

Are we really that disrespected in the bowl projections? I wouldn't argue us going ahead of Duke, Syracuse or even Miami but they teams all have better records too so I get it. Louisville beat us and we still may get picked ahead of them for a better bowl.

Also, don't get hung up on the bowl game. The Fenway and Military bowls are ahead of Gasparilla and Birmingham in the tiers but Gasparilla and Birmingham would likely bring an SEC opponent. I'll take that every day and don't care that BC was chosen for the Military bowl over us.

This is the year that the ACC really needs to stand up for us. Based on the past, I don’t hold my breath. We’ll see. That Gaspi Bowl was a good bowl for us last year. We’re tied for 4th in the ACC this season, taking down 2 top 10 ranked teams and beating another every way but the final score. We deserve better. We deserve either the PopTart, Gator, Sun, or Mayo Bowls.

I get if Pop Tarts takes Miami and Holiday takes Clemson. The Gator taking Duke is a head scratcher and could see us or Louisville sliding in there. Send Duke to Pinstripe where more of their fans can attend a local game. :)
Agree. Duke to Gator over Tech or Va Tech to Mayo over Tech is just plain insanity. We could make a strong argument on why we should be chosen ahead of both of those teams to a better bowl.

I consider McMurphy to be one of the most connected CFB reporters. He changed his projections this morning and moved Louisville to the Sun, Syracuse to Pinstripe, Pittsburgh to Fenway, and GT to Birmingham to play Arkansas. I'd be happy with that.

Okay, but I don’t think anybody is knocking down the door to play us either. Why be scare of a tough game?
Not scared. Vandy is a no name team that everyone thinks of as a bottom dweller. That are much better than their reputation. Those are the teams you do not want to play. Beat them and the narrative is, oh it's Vanderbilt, they suck. Lose and it's you lost to that lousy team! Much better to play a name brand team!
