So now can we get back to the topic that this post was made for? If roof is gone who should we go grab? I said it early, but I think Chad Glasgow from TCU would be a good grab. From what I can tell from some googling he makes less than Roof and TCU runs a good defense against very explosive offenses in the big 12 with a lot of 3* guys.

You stole him from me lol. He's also learned under Gary Patterson, and we have players currently on the roster to run what he does.

How about J McKinnon. Vikings.

Interesting article for you to read too.

Oh, and I agree with A basic premise you’ve argued. We need to pass the ball a little better. A little more
efficiently. But I think most on this board would too.

Chris swain
Alex Villanueva
Matt Breida
Adrian Peterson
Tracy Ham (cfl but better than half of the starters in nfl today!)
Keenan Reynolds (2016 draftee)
Jeff Sydner
Kaulana Noa
Kynan Forney

There are more that have played in the 3-0/Paul Johnson offense, but here are a few since you asked. Not sure why this matters so much. Not like Oregon in there Chip Kelly run put a ton of offensive players in the league.

Since 2015 we’ve had 3 offensive players drafted. Auburn has five (but you keep referring to these guys like they are top of the world). USC five. Clemson six.
Funny thing is that Florida, who has had arguably the worst offense in power five football, has had nine drafted in the same period. Just shows that nfl draft really doesn’t mean much to the argument.

While I do think Roof should be fired. Monetary wise, I don't see it happening. I think ALL the coaches will be on the hot seat. Regardless of excuses, the staff better have a lot more Ws than Ls. When it comes down to it.... That is all that matters for college sports. Education is important, but winning comes first.

I hope that some money is invested into recruiting. We know we can use bigger, better, faster. Do we have the program to help succeed in that area?

From what I heat, Roof is a great recruiter. Maybe its me. But, where are the 4 and 5 star players? How long has he been recruiting? How many 4 stars did he land? Point is.. He may be above average, but stop telling me how great he is. Proof is in the pudding.

Hey it's a good pick. I also like Alex Grinch from Washington State. Leach has always had a problem having a consistent defense. My off the wall young guy to grab would be Danny Gonzales from San Diego State. He's in his first year as a defensive coordinator, but has done a helluva a job.

FYI, TK Chimedza (currently committed 4-star defensive tackle) is entirely a Roof product. We wouldn't have him committed without Roof in the picture. This also applies to the Swillings, one of which was an Army All-American and consensus 4-star. They also committed because of Roof. Along with them, Jaquan Henderson was a 4-star who whose main recruiter was Roof. Beyond those, TD Roof, Xavier Gantt, and currently committed Malachi Carter are all high-ceiling highly-regarded Roof recruits that I can name off the top of my head. He's also had us in the discussion with several high-profile recruits that Tech didn't end up landing, but wouln't have had a shot at without him. We're only now starting to see the benefits Roof is providing us in recruiting

It's a thought, but I doubt he'd leave the pros for a college job.

I know this thread is about Roof, but if Roof is replaced, whoever gets hired needs to get the assistants he wants.

That hamstrung Wommack a bit and definitely hamstrung Groh, although that's a whole different can of worms.

No point in getting a guy who wants his D-Line to stunt, his LB's to drop into coverage, and his corners to press if the position coaches can't do it.

Stephen Hill had a nice little 3 year career. Does he qualify for you? Sure Hill was no all-pro, but very few players who get drafted last longer than a few seasons anyway.
Avg NFL career is 4 years.

NCAA athletes are going pro in something other then sports...

Turns out Hill’s NFL career lasted 3 years before tearing his ACL in training camp of his 4th year. So Hill was about average.

But it looks like the [derogatory] guy aggressively harping on pro Jackets got booted or suspended anyway. [emoji106][emoji106]

Yeah, it appears so. He could have called it a night, but in the past few days, he's posted very late, so I think he's gone for good. Hope so anyway.
