How do you expect to win without players? I thought GT fans were supposed to be smart?

This sector of GT fans that are commenting think there is only one way to skin a cat. We can only only by running option and being a unicorn in the football universe. They want their football team to reflect the institute by being unique and put caps on what we can and will be.

When have I or the other posters you're referencing said that we can only run running the option?

I would love an offensive coach with a proven background, don't necessarily care about the system. Tech does need something unique (DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THE OPTION) to level the playing field a little because if the recruiting limitations we both agree on. We need that or outstanding coaching to develop players more (think Wisconsin the past decade). I have repeatedly said I would love to even run what Leach has.

I see the potential in Sims, can be electric, and it's really too early to say if CDP is a good or bad coach, but what up to this point should reassure super as far as the qb coaching?

Playcalling has been good

Balanced attack

His mix of the RBs and utilization of Gibbs in the pass game.

Mix WRs in the passing game

Offensive production regardless of our scoring woes

I agree with balanced attack, as it's needed for what we are trying to do. I agree with running back game being good.

I worry the play calling has been too much for a young guy.

But specifically qb coaching is what I was asking. And I know sims is a true freshman, so you will see mistakes, but you would assume good coaching would help reduce this...

Just sounds like a lot of old negative nannies.

Let’s see:
You can openly see progress all over the field offensively and defensively. Three freshman kickers having to iron out on special teams. True freshman starting at tailback, OLine, & qb. First time starters at Dline, cb, & LB on defense. An extremely young team.

Waves magic wand and wallah, poof, well oiled disciplined machine.
Where’s the development and improvement ? We have more talent at RB and the OL is marginally better. Special teams is worse, secondary is worse than last year and DL seems the same. Record is the same. Where are you seeing all this progress ?

For what we run, we need to recruit in the top 15-5 range to reach Clemson level of success that I think many here are claiming this staff can achieve.

If you want to run what everyone else runs, you gotta get the best players to run it which means you have to have the best talent. That or have the best coaches to coach them up and well...

Top 15 on a consistent basis like Miami and FSU have done? I don't see it happening. The worst recruiting class FSU has had in the past 5 years is better than the best recruiting class we have had in the past 5 years. At some point, the messaging, the culture, the hype, the smoke and mirrors have to be solidified by winning games. That point, is fast approaching.

We are moving the football, that is for sure but the last two games we have had collectively over 800 yards total offense and very little to show for it. For whatever reason, it is the most inefficient offense I have ever seen at Georgia Tech.

Nothing in your post do I really disagree with, in fact, I agree with it. I think CGC's success as a recruiter has been proven throughout the years. At GT, I still believe his ceiling potential will be top 25 or top 20, which means to compete with the big boys, the actual game day coaching (and game week planning/prep) and player development will be ULTRA critical. His Head Coaching ability and credentials are unproven as of now, and I am rooting for him to grow into a fine HC, but it will be interesting if he can clean up quickly what appeared to be a bit of a dumpster fire yesterday.

Top 25? Top 20? After the last two weeks, I will take it.

I will, too, and I have no idea if it will happen, but I am rooting for CGC to make it happen. But, my point was, it won’t matter hugely long term unless he can coach players up above their high school expectations. I hope he and his staff can.
