Maybe. I definitely think Tennessee is dangerous and there are teams I’d rather see than any of those 3. I’d be happy seeing any of them in a super for sureI would rather play Auburn or UGA than Tennessee.

If this was a one off situation, I might lean towards your thinking; however, this happens often. This is a great example of how you can skew a couple data points to justify anything
Reality is our metrics (RPI and ELO) put us into a beauty contest and a couple warts cost us. It’s not some grand conspiracy if you look at it objectively nor does it matter. We can easily win a regional and then we’re one series from Omaha same as we would’ve been before
I agree and they often do throw out midweek results because they are so situational. Midweeks and conference tournaments only matter when you are splitting hairs between teams which is where we ended up unfortunately. Personally I think we drew the short straw because of location (auburn, Clemson, Athens nearby vs getting more west coast representation with UCLA) and also southern miss AD being on the selection committee. Feel like those factors outweighed any true metrics for these last couple spotsThe second sentence is the problem. There's no way that should have been the case using their own criteria - Q1 wins, how you do in your own conference, and injuries considered. RPI is only one of the criteria.
Regarding the first sentence, if you want to dial into every starting pitcher you face, midweeks would be looked at a lot differently and it would nearly nullify those three close SEC losses.
There’s definitely something to it. In this instance I feel like we got screwed by a B1G school and sun belt but the SEC gets special treatment. Some of it is earned and some of it is moneyIf this was a one off situation, I might lean towards your thinking; however, this happens often.
Usually in favor of one particular conference.
What is the definition of one that believes in a conspiracy theory. It's the desire of said person to question the narrative put out usually by people that don't want that narrative to be questioned.
Asking "why" is a key component of critical thinking. I've found those that label others as conspiracy theorists usually want to shut down the narrative. Whatever narrative that may be.
Then why send an Acc and a Sec out west over the past few years. If you watch the D1 nerd cast from last night, they give a lot of information about how the regionals are divided. After watching, I think it’s clear we won’t go to Coastal or UCLA because they are over 400 miles away. They said we wouldn’t go to Athens because they won’t do a place in consecutive years. Auburn wasn’t really mentioned as an option because we are a high 2 seed and they are a higher 1 seed. That basically leaves Knoxville or Hattiesburg as our only options.
If it is USM, they agree Miss St would be the 3 and then they said at the end, that would be the toughest regional. The only other option for 2 at USM is probably Alabama because they can basically only go there or Clemson. I’ll still hold out hope for Auburn, but it seems less likely than the other 2.
Sometimes they have to because they can’t avoid all travel. But they had the head of the selection committee on a couple of weeks ago, taking about the computer algorithm that spits out where teams can go within 400 miles. They make it clear it’s not like basketball where it is truly a reverse snake order to 68, just avoiding conference rematches early. Then why send an Acc and a Sec out west over the past few years.
In the ncaa basketball tournament, a 2 seed is truly a 2 seed and gets the advantages earned through the year for being a 2 seed.
If the committee were to place tech anywhere other than the national 15 or 16 seed is just more proof that it's the SEC invitational
At this point, It's just time to knock the snot out of any secheat schoolSometimes they have to because they can’t avoid all travel. In their mind, they’re doing us a favor by sending us to a close region against a lower national seed, even if it doesn’t feel like that.
I want the Barn.Again personally, I hope it’s Auburn but it seems most likely they wouldn’t punish the 6 or 7 national seed with a team that could’ve been hosting as well.
True and very well saidThe problem we face is most of the SEC fans are complete idiots. It plays into their SEC, SEC, SEC at all costs. They will completely ignore facts or arguments and just scream SEC regardless of any situation. We are not only fighting the incompetence of our own commissioner we are fighting hundreds of thousands inbreds to change a narrative. Its quite the uphill battle.
Yup… that’s obviously my concern. What are you talking about? Do you think GT is going to get left out of the tourney?
FSU was undefeated and won a conference title in a championship game, GT lost all 3 games against the SEC (neither of which made it to the SEC Champ game) and then yesterday with everyone watching we played pretty darn bad. I don’t know the last time I’ve even seen a high school player run past his teammate for an auto out.
Whether we play in Atlanta or not we have shown we can hit 7 bombs and we can meltdown. FSU would have loved to have the chance GT is going to get today.
ExactlyI can somewhat understand why the committee. Is giving us a #2 seed looking strictly at their criteria and our performance against Clemson in the ACC tournament. But their bias really shows when they overlook our regular season championship in the retirement year of a legendary coach. These considerations would not have been ignored if it was an $EC team that was on the fence of a host position I am sure.
Every team has flaws including Tech
In the end, it doesn't matter. Just go out and mud stomp a Sec team in their house
