You don't leave mid season, either for a new job or because you aren't happy where you are and the situation. You keep a smile on your face and finish out the year and then leave. There is something that happened that led to him leaving mid season. The resignation was a nice way of saying thanks for what you've done, leave your keys and your phone on my desk.
I really hope we're not going to learn of some major recruiting violations or something...

And sometimes it isn’t, like in this case.

My understanding is that this won’t have ramifications for GT. Nothing confirmed to me, but various people I trust all saying it’s not an Institute Issue. Nor was it a planned thing by CBK.

I just got in from a training trip to the west coast, but when I saw this I reached out to one of my sources in the GTAA. All I was told is that this was not a CBK decision and it will not likely have ramifications on the Institute, which is what is being generally circulated here in the above quotes. I don't know what exactly happened, but I was led to believe it was more than nothing and less than newsworthy.

Sometimes a resignation is just a resignation.
It can't be an easy job being an assistant football coach. Every year you wonder if you'll still be at the same school, constant recruiting and keeping the players you have happy, under a microscope especially if your unit is not getting the job done, looking over your shoulder at some young upstart that could take your job away, and then the long hours and travel. I could see someone getting burned out.

I don’t know what happened.
Midtown and Augusta_Jacket gave some connected information that it’s not Key cleaning house and it’s not something that’s going to be bad press or NCAA stuff.
If any of us quietly resigned from our job mid-week. I don’t think any of us would want a bunch of people speculating as to why. It's not an ideal situation, but he's probably got enough on his plate without people guessing that he had a run-in with the police or other things we've posted here.

For all I know, he won Mega-Millions and decided to retire and become a gospel singer. I don’t think that’s what happened either, but we just don’t know.

I suspect over time the word will filter out. I really liked him as a coach and as a recruiter.

He’s been offered a multi-million dollar job as a sports TV commentator and he can work from home.

While we’re speculating.
