For what it's worth -- written by a Boston Globe beat writer, and sometimes they know little more than a message board but are required to have some kind of opinion anyway -- here is a synopsis of Shaq Mason's year in regards to what New England has to get done in the off-season. Pretty positive.

The Patriots had a pair of fourth-round rookies, and Shaq Mason clearly outplayed Tre’ Jackson, who ended the season with a knee injury. Mason was more durable (14 games to 11), played more snaps (879 to 608), was the team’s best run blocker and most athletic lineman, and showed the most improvement throughout the season.

On the one hand it is depressing because he was the only non-QB people would watch just to see him. But when they made a possession receiver out of him in a possession game it was time to pack it in. That is a very violent game and as we have seen with player after player, the body just folds up after a spell. Just hope he did not have concussions that will haunt him later.

Panthers re-sign WR Hill

The Panthers have...re-signed restricted free agent wide receiver Stephen Hill to a one-year contract. Hill, a second-round draft choice of the New York Jets in 2012, appeared poised to make an impact with the Panthers last season before suffering a catastrophic knee injury in training camp. He spent the 2014 season learning Carolina's system as a member of the practice squad. The Panthers signed him four days after the Jets waived him in the final roster cutdown that year. In two seasons with the Jets, the speedster out of Georgia Tech caught 45 passes for 594 yards and five touchdowns.

This makes so much sense. It's possible they had this planned all along but wanted to keep him at WR to help ease his transition to the NFL. Now that he has seen how things go up close and personal, he can focus on bulking up a bit and learn a new position a bit easier. He's a guy who could explode on the league if he puts it all together...guy's got unbelievable potential.

I knew Shaq was a HUGE force (heart)for us but I didn't realize he was the soul also--until last yr.Amazing. AND-he could have been a terrific DT!
