A lot of the Clemson media thinks he may end up there .
By "end up" then maybe in another eight or nine years when his sons are out -- his oldest is a scholarship freshman LB redshirt and his youngest supposedly a lights-out HS linebacker, a rising junior, already offered a Clemson scholarship -- then maybe. But if it is "Clemson media" it must be message board stuff unaware of Venables' commitment and the really overreaching desire by Swinney and Venables to coach their sons in winning a NC. Swinney's two oldest are on the team now. Both are walk-on WRs, though Will, the oldest, earned a scholarship this year at the insistence not of Swinney but the position coaches and coordinators. He holds for placekicks. After the Texas Tech overture by his college friend and fellow LB, the AD, Venables said that "Everything I need is at Clemson." His name will come up every time the Clemson defense comes up. You can ignore it. (Swinney made him the highest paid DC in the country, $2 million+ not as leverage, but because he thinks he is worth it. If they can win a second NC, who would argue?) The bad news for us is that he is staying. The good news is that he is a class act for the ACC.

I have heard from friends who live on Lake Keowee that Venables has a house there and has recently put it on the market. Maybe he’s just looking to buy a bigger house, or maybe . . .
He also has a house in Florida. these days football coaches buy houses. Everywhere. Up to the tax deduction.

I've seen some posts here conjecturing that the Wiz is a done deal because we haven't heard anything about anyone else but his interview. Supposed interview. TS hasn't said anything yet and many are worried about what he's thinking, who we are hiring, etc. I get all that, but did anyone consider that he has just helped select the top 4 teams in college football? He has been with a very select group of AD's and other top football people all season, rating teams for the past 6+ weeks, watching lots of film on every decent team in the country. He's seen OSU, bama, uGa, auburn, Clemson, OU, uCF and anyone else that might have had a shot at the final 4.

I would think that a smart guy who knew 2 months ago that his HOF head coach was ready to pack it in would be thinking about who was doing what with what level of players all along. I would be very surprised if he hasn't been talking to these other football savants and asking their thoughts as well. We have all thrown our $.02 in on Elliot, Satterfield, etc. but he has seen a lot more film on all these guys than we have. I won't be surprised if he comes up with someone not out "our" list, and I'd be willing to bet that whoever he picks will cause some of us to say "where did that guy come from".

CPJ said at his press conference that he was ready to leave a few years ago when Sasquatch was there because he couldn't get anything he needed. He also said that TS isn't that guy and that he does get it. TS will make a good choice, even if it doesn't work out. Remember, it's always a gamble to a certain extent. We have stacked the deck as much as we can in our favor, so we now get to see how the cards play out. It's all good.

Same here... GT fans get ready for a decade of misery. Don't we know GT alumni cannot fix GT. We need someone from a program that wins. Stans can raise money but he will bury us in football decisions. He wasn't that good of a player to begin with.

Does the Rooney Rule apply to GT hiring GT guys?

If TStan likes the Whiz, he should love SB winner Mike McCarthy who is now available. Has ACC experience (was a GA at Pitt) [emoji14]
