Rutledge, Gibbs, and Hawes all contributed significantly this past season in the first year up from G5/FCS. Eddie Kelley and Abdul Janneh the year before. Keion White technically took 2 years but that was due to injury his first season at Tech so still his first season playing at the P5 level. Tyler Davis also immediately stepped into the starting role and ended up getting drafted coming from G5. In fact, there are more guys who came in from lower levels and contributed right away since 2019 than there are guys who came in from lower levels and didn't, and that's including guys like Kenneth Kirby who got injured and never ended up playing for us, and Trad Beatty who nobody ever expected to actually see the field and was just buddies with TFG.
Hawes didn't have any trouble blocking FSU's "best d-line in the country" during his first game. Seems like a long time ago, but all of us (and the announcers) were like "dang, who is this kid that's crushing defenders out there?"

Don't we need another big in the middle of the DL, Biggers type? Vandenberg is it now is he not? I'm happy with him for sure, just need another.

Don’t forget about the past two recruiting classes. Boyd and Bradford come to mind, but we also recruited well for the incoming class. My guess is we will have one or two of those guys step up also.

Yes. My guess is that Garrett and Norris will play next year. I also wouldn't be surprised if Boyd ended up inside. That'll be up to the coaches and the players, however.

Did you see Boyd 's tackle on the punt coverage? Man can he move - "boom get out the way bxxxxx!

Maybe the young ol will suprise early and funish strong. Ol in Bham was the opposite of dominant.

Was that jersey #95 who ran to the sideline to lower the boom on someone?

We have lots of talent at tight end. I love Boyd there, but he might be even more help to the Jackets as a defensive end or edge rusher. Just a thought.

How are we rated by talking heads websites?

I know they are not precise.

One i saw has the usual acc top programs at top and gt and usual nerd schools at bottom ( we are 14).

Young ol with a few portals couldcbe adequate.

Look for the 2025 rankings. 2024 is last year. For 247, we are 5th in the ACC for the portal, second in the ACC with the recruiting class, and third combined. When you throw the transfer portal and the recruiting class together, we’re 21st in the country.

For Rivals, we are 23rd in the high school recruiting (3rd in the ACC), 12th in the portal (1st in the ACC), 25th in the country when you throw it all together (3rd in the ACC).

It’s not how I would evaluate a class. If we kept taking classes of 5* QBs, WRs, and RBs, but didn’t do well with linemen, we’d get killed. Balance and filling needs is important.

I have faith in Key to pick the right players and I have all the faith in the world for the players to give 200 percent to get ready for the 2025 season.
