We recruited him out of HS. I think we were one of his final schools.

We were Swann’s favorite all cycle and Collins put him in the back burner chasing Morris (after he had put Morris on the back burner chasing others). By the time we got back to him we had lost him to Maryland, although I think he ended up at Vandy where he started early IIRC.

I don’t think we need a QB right now but he was one of the all-time mismanaged recruitments that I’ve ever seen. One of the best QB prospects in the SE wanted to commit to a school with (at the time) zero QB pedigree and we essentially said “why don’t you wait a few months while we shop around.”

I used to get the current me tests the day before test date. Back in day they used chemical meme o graph paper to tranfer the test. I worked in basement of Swann bldg where i assembled drafting packets. I would wait for secretary to drop off trash, dumpster dive the test master, get it to sigma nu house where they traded it. Great parties at sigma nu.
Where were you when I needed you?!? And we had some pretty mean parties at the Pike house as well back in the day. Had our own version of the transfer portal with recruiting trips to Bauder and Massey!

Big Rutherford fan but if you feel threatened by transfers from FIU, where does he think he's going to end up where he doesn't have to compete for playing time?
Rutherford doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who doubts his ability to beat out the competition. It sounds more like someone backing up a Brinks truck to mom and dad's house. Or Miami getting tired of getting their butts handed to them so why not try to buy him.

You have to ask? I’m in Albany and have had dealings with both the local school system and Albany State. The Hope is a Ponzi scheme for a community like Albany. They give out 3.0’s in high school so the kids can take the money straight to ASU so the school can brag about growth. Meanwhile, the local school system graduates illiterates with 3.0’s so the Hope can be funneled straight to the college. At the end of the process, the student has little marketable skills but the school system and Albany State can point o metrics about graduation rates, GPA’s, Hope, etc. It’s all a joke. Then the local school system hires the college graduates as teachers who are semi-illiterate. It’s why towns like this are simply dying and being totally subsidized by government schemes. For GT students it’s a win though because we save huge money with Hope and graduate with skills to get jobs.

Two hours after another WR commits? Not buying it.
Exactly. To me this is 110% a reaction to the Dean Patterson announcement.

However, he has been using that “walking” emoji a lot. The first time was on a picture of him doing the “make it rain” hand gesture in the UGA game. To me that says either “I walk the walk” OR “pay me or I’m walking.” (I can’t believe I’m analyzing a kids cryptic emojis and hand gestures)

I say all of this to say…maybe he informed the staff early that he wants to stay, but would like some more funds. They said maybe. They potentially flat out told ES no to his number and that’s why he left early. Maybe it’s a combo of money and FIU guys. Maybe Malik is thinking… “you ain’t sure if you can pay me more, your proven guy who’s been a day 1, but you’re gonna go out and get these guys?”

Patterson is 6-2 202 lb. Totally different kind of receiver.

IMO Malik told the coaches he was likely to be leaving and we got the kid from USC-e and the all-american from FIU to help offset he and Singleton.

I love Malik and ESJ and the guys we are bringing in have also been extremely productive. We'll be fine. Coaches are on it.

I don’t think the type of receiver matters. It’s the fact that we’re bringing in receivers period.

Dean Patterson announces, Malik tweets “walking” emoji right after, then retweets Hayes Fawcetts tweet that states Malik is planning to enter, only with a “period” in the text. Connect the dots.

This is the time when kids enter and exit the portal. The entrances and exits coincide. It's the way it works.

You may be right but I really dont think it makes sense to try and connect dots here. Ascribing causality to an inherently coincidental phenomenon is dubious at best.

Again you may be right in this specific instance. I just see speculation though and no real evidence.
