Redshirting players at Tech makes no sense if they can play. Many players will get their degree in three years and then transfer with their GT degree and two years left to play. We develop them, give them a degree and they give their best years to someone else. Sigh.

Key has mentioned this and I believe it’s why we are redshirting less

Brandon has been at Tech long enough to graduate and hasn't been able to break into the line. He's been a good backup, but I'm not sure we'll notice him not being there on Saturdays. Congratulations on your Tech degree. Now, go get some playing time while you still have eligibility (plus that MS).
So far we play the same guys in ol no matter

I do like the incoming freshman and the current freshman and the red shirt freshman.
Should be more athletic.

But we are back to being a young ol.

Just need better play by September.

Agreed. I don't really understand OL and why they essentially play every snap of the game. They're banging all game long, pulling, blocking downfield. These are big guys moving a lot of mass. But, at every level they seem to play just about every snap.

I believe it’s the communication between the OL players and the trust they have that each guy will instinctively know what the others are doing regardless of what the defense is doing.

Of course I haven’t played OL in well over 50 years 🤣

You have to earn it.
6'5" son played in college.
He would not walk at Nebraska and play he added weight
Here s the deal - you have to earn it in practice and weight room. Then you get to show you can move and still fight off the dl. This is closely watched. If you watch the players side line gou see the ol huddle. The stsrters are in sests with coach talkjng. Behind them are the #2. Also #2 are watching their starter every play on sideline.
The switches/ double teams done seamless and at speed can take years and one injury cause a major set back.
It is vital that back ups are ready.

Some years there is major turn over in starters and some young fast feet guys emerge.

I understand what you're saying, but I saw a number of interior OL basically OLAY DL and stay in the game. Not sure I agree it's about earning it and maintaining it.

The other side of ball schemes to get thier best dl in best position to make plays.

Our center had a perfect record of great snaps, our rb and wr almost never fumbled and our qb only threw 1 interception. Each of them had short comings but our coach overlooked them.

Our sheme is the same one cpj ran ecxcept we run b back utm on trap etc blocks and we throw short passes instead of laterals.

The missed blocks by ol are hard to see in this run short pass offense. When King was targeted in uga game we were going utm w qb keep. The center took his dt to left as if king would go to left instead of straight center. Samething happened in Vandy when King got punched in the scrotum. Is that a wrong read by center or by qb? King will not throw shade. I like that about him
Watching pro ball they run a lot same plays BUT WITH VERY ATHLETIC OL MEN. But pros take shots down field. We do not throw unless WIDE OPEN.

But on straight pass blocking your observation of wiff is valid. They occur due to bad techniqe and being out athleted. Imo, we cant know the block assignment. Its that the ol man looks bad Even pros look bad agaist stud dl. PS our qb had almost 0 sacks.

My hope is Geep has some of his his athletic recruits here as freshman. With even more highly rated ol incoming class we see better technique. Could make run game explosive

Its pretty frustrating to see the wiff but i trust key that cupboard was not full.

1. By end of yesr we need to be starting young guys on ol and have good record or Key's ability to build a team is in question.

2. We can't have halves like first half of sycuse - (qb threw at a rate the same as 7500 yds per year. In game head coaching must be bad for long periods). He has to call time out to help players coaches adjust. Scolling is not coaching

Great season coming -at BDS
( Sycue, Clemson, Vt, Uga) for Key to demo he is a good coach. The QB Runnn the Bawwal is not a winning plan.
