I think the lesson to be learned from the Geoff Collins disaster is that you need a guy at the top to emphasize the "fundamentals and accountability".
The OC or DC can supply the schematic advantage.
Get those right and recruiting will follow.
Alabama already had the recruiting, but I think Saban is a very good example of what you are saying. He demands accountability. He has changed offensive and defensive strategies as times and methods change. He just brings in different people as OC and DC and to support OC and DC to keep up with the times. I look at Saban as a very demanding CEO. He develops strategy and makes dang sure that everyone that reports to him follows and maximizes that strategy.

In Key's post game presser I enjoyed his quote "Confidence comes with preparation". Could it be players are playing better because of improved preparation? Or some tough love?

For those not at the game, there was some passion in the house. There was a "ref you suck" chant that got pretty loud on Pukes last drive. The Boo birds were out after the RTP call. Perhaps the OPI was a makeup call to mollify the Tech fans. After watching the game replay, it definitely was offensive pass interference, but just maybe the official was a little more motivated to throw the flag because of the fans.

Students showed up again in the North stands. Now need to get some butts in the seats. Still looked to be only half full.

because it’s not true and comments like that are really disingenuous. scheme is not the silver bullet that people pretend it is. we lost plenty of games running the option and have lost plenty of games running modern offenses.

if scheme gave us such an advantage what do you have to say about us averaging 7 wins a season under paul and plenty of losses to inferior teams like duke who had our number bad at the end.

having a “scheme” aka running the option is nice but it’s not necessary to see success.
Scheme give an advantage. It does not guarantee wins. Talent x scheme x tactical decisions x execution is what drives the outcome.

Our Offensive and Defensive Squads are improving each week.

I think we are a functioning punting team away from really improving the team overall. Beefing up one deficiency is creating another problem. We need more hang time on the punt so the coverage team can get to punt returner. The coverage team needs to have the discipline to stay in their lanes.

We need to get the punts off quicker. The punting team is loaded up with blockers to protect the punter. We need to add a couple of speedsters to get downfield faster. We may need to try out another punter who can get the ball in the air quicker or a long snapper with more zip on the ball.

Seats will fill back in with time . Just shows how much Collins erroded the fan base. I think the enthusiasm is definitely coming back though

those are two of the top teams in the acc and were arguably the two best teams in the division and we played bad and still won.
Dude you literally said Duke wasn’t good on this same forum because they hadn’t played anyone. Since then, they beat UVA (who you also said wasn’t good), and lost to Tech. And now you’re saying they’re good? Lol

Duke is better than last year, and probably better than the last few years. Elko looks like a good coach, and a good coach for them. I don’t think they’re all that far off from the UCF team we lost to 3 games ago (except they pass better).
They’re a mid-tier bowl quality team. They aren’t Notre Dame, but they’re at least average.

Also, Duke’s best defensive player was out at halftime for targeting—that helped us.

Hopefully, the line gets back to health over the next two weeks.

Looks to me like Shanahan is rushing to get the punts off in time. Looks like he's just trying to make sure he gets it out of there without being blocked, first and foremost.

I think they’ll come back faster than you think. My VET (student mentor in band) said she and her husband (another band alum) wouldn’t attend another Tech game until “Gilderoy Lockhart” (her nickname for G**** C******) was gone from the program. And I’ve had numerous other friends express similar sentiments. To not only get rid of Mr. Money Down but also start winning is going to bring back a pretty decent number of fans who were embarrassed by what we had become.

Time for these people to start showing up, then.

Lower ticket prices will also help.

Like, 40% lower. Forty percent off will be a very attractive incentive.
Hasn't really helped in the past. It might work out to have a fire sale for the Virginia and Miami game this year. However, from what I have seen in the past having a good product on the field gets a lot more people in the seats than cheap sales prices.

i don’t think they’re good but i also think they’re one of the best teams in the division. i think very lowly of all of our acc opponents and think we should be favored the rest of the way out except fsu (depending on who’s qb) and uga

the fact we have shown we can win ugly against a team better than several remaining on our schedule is a good sign

GT folks needs to just step up and stop with the excuses. It’s so much easier and less expensive to go to a GT game than many others. We’re supposedly successful and make good money. Put up or shut up.
i’m saying. all the people that droned on and on about collins should be the first ones buying tickets. they got what they wanted, we are playing MUCH better and that was a conference game not some directional fcs team

Well, I’m retired and on a fixed income. Football tickets are just too expensive for me now.

That’s why I’ve been attending GT baseball games. Prices for baseball tickets are much lower, plus lower prices for parking, too.

I guess my personal perspective is different.

and from what I am hearing they are. I have heard of so many people that are planning to go back now that the worst coach of all time is gone. I will be there as well the rest of the season.

it’s just an unfortunate part of football now. we are very cheap relative to big schools like uga, auburn, bama etc, but it’s still not a cheap ticket
