As opposed to the refs’ exit—wearing fake beards, dark sunglasses, andplain brown overcoats, escorted by state patrolman to a black van with tinted windows that was waiting in an empty sub-level parking garage…
That penalty on Duke in OT that put them back for a long FG may have been a make up call. One ref can make a judgement call that others don't agree with. That call against us was big on roughing. The no call on Sims was an egregious missed call. Hope he is okay. Two weeks to heal.

You may be right, but isn't it time to put the "I hate Collins" meme to bed? Let's enjoy the present and set our sights on the future.
I don't hate him at all. I am disappointed in the hire and the lack of results for the hard work the kids put into trying to win. They deserved better. Whatever he was doing wasn't working very well.

was told we needed a “schematic edge” and an x’s and o’s guy to win here.

or just have a coach that emphasizes fundamentals and intensity and good things will follow.
Now you know that is not what people mean when they talk about having a schematic advantage. They mean we need to have a schematic advantage to beat teams with better talent than us....i.e. not the fightin' Duke Blue Devils.

There seems to be more effort especially by the DL. Those guys are working hard. May be a more aggressive approach than a read and react. Our OL is better in protection but can't seem to get those tough 2 or 3 yards when needed. I expect that to improve or maybe we need some trickery at times.

Now Geoff Collins has something to advance at his next coaching interview, whenever that may be. He, Geoff, had the team poised and turning the corner when he was terminated. If only Tech had given him one…more…week…
if we win some big games down the stretch i can guarantee that there will be talk about how collins built the team or something. at least the future fanbase will probably cope with the disappointing hire by telling themselves that

His redemption will only come about if he takes another head coaching job and produces a winner. But even that would not mollify Tech fans angry over 3+ wasted years.

Of course... that’s how this works. Every keyboard jockey gets an equal opinion here.
FWIW, I joked after the Pitt game that I didn’t like Key because I think he won’t be able to win without Collins’ guys. Losing breeds all kinds of excuses. Hopefully we don’t do too much of it.

I’m late to the celebrations but WHAT A WIN!! A couple thoughts on the team’s performance:

-sims being more confident is infectious to the team. Seeing him run as hard as he did was nice. He made very few bad throws. Made some exceptional throws. (That TD to McCollum, as soon as he wound up I knew it was a TD, he’s never thrown that early over the middle)

-Leo Blackburn made a sweet debut. I think he had a few drops but made up for it. Good to see him showing his potential and hype is real

-defense is actually solid. We lead the ACC in turnover margin. And I know it’s been easy to hate Thacker but overall, his defense is playing solid. It’s nice seeing new faces making plays

-Key is infectious to the team. I love it. He has done so much in two games, it’s actually incredible. I’m not sure what will come or his coaching career over the next two months, but I’m damn sure enjoying the ride.

LETS GOOOO! So proud of our boys! GO JACKETS

Key is building a new culture at Tech right now. It's an old offensive lineman's culture of getting dirty and working your butt off for the team. Those guys don't get much individual praise nor do they have fans wearing their jersey numbers. But, they are the key (no pun intended) to winning or losing. There's no "pretty" to Key's approach. It's all about getting the details right and doing the work it takes to win.
