The 2015 FSU game was pretty loud and exciting.(Not just from an outcome standpoint, but from a fan engagement standpoint) The GT fans were pretty involved during the Virginia game this past season.

Fans aren't always involved though. I have to admit that I am guilty. During games with lesser opponents, I am usually not as loud during third downs. Often, even with good opponents, I don't get very loud until later in the game when a third down is going to have a big impact on the outcome. IF the GT crowd was as loud at the beginning of games as we were during the FSU blocked kick, BDS would be a different atmosphere.
It is tough to do when the sets in the lower east are empty for over half the game (or red come the Sat after Thanksgiving)......but then that was another sellout for $$$$.

But it will mean an early season prime time nationally televised game. That’s got to be a positive right.
ot if the stadium is half full and/or there are more opponent fans than Tech. Remember, some of these games will be playe when the stadium is several years old. It will no longer be the shiny new object. Hell, the shelf life of a NFL stadium is only 25-30 years.
But it will when the games are played and when other ACC teams are trying to get those 2 open slots.
Once again....stating opinion a if it were fact.

Comical post to say the least......seriously clueless at worst.

So tell me where I stated that GT should be ranked in the top 25 for starters. I recently posted the aggregate final standings over the last 20 years........few teams consistently end up in the top 25. Not my expectation......a whole lot of others.
As for
As for the schedule.......Multiple upon multiple upon multiple posters have cried/whined/complained about the FCS game that is scheduled every year, despite giving Tech extra cash due to having a 7th game. These posters thumbed their noses at the revenue aspect and demanded that Tech play "big boy football" Wanting to schedule Auburn, Bama, etc. etc. Now these same posters are moving the goal posts saying we already have a tough schedule.
My point regarding the MBS games was that TS could have really made something out of playing there......by setting up marquee match ups and nixing the FCS game....revenue wise it would be a wash at worst, could have marketed the whole big boy football angle to appease all the whiner fans that have complained the last few years and not moved conference home games.

Seems that when these other posters now are back pedaling as fast as they can. Why am I not surprised?

Yes, very comical. You say, "this could have been a serious win win had they scrapped the FCS game and replaced it with a Marquee matchup....I live in Detroit......the announcement is a nothing burger outside of the local area." In other words we would end up with out of conference P5 games with UGA, ND + another "Marquee Matchup"(presumably a strong P5 team). What other team in the country plays 3 tough P5 out of conference games? Unless they scheduled that, it is a "nolthing burger". Gee, it takes a lot to get you Detroiters excited, doesn't it? Or was your original post all or part sarcasm? Seems like you're the one moving the goal posts.

I see you like to put 2 and 2 together to get 7.
It was explained.......yet you only want to remix a few piece.
Try buying yourself a clue.

I'm sorry, which part did I misunderstand. I mean really, not being snarky.

His explanation matched my understanding of his original post. I'm not sure I could make it clearer.

At some point, misunderstanding can always occur. When it happens, insisting that you understood them better than they understand themselves is rarely correct.

As I said, no guarantees. Or did you not understand me? If we are winning and if the game has a national TV slot, teams will want to play. If we aren’t all bets are off but better to be bold than afraid. Besides teams are still clamoring to play at Jerry World why not the Benz?

I had season tickets for 8 years running but last year I didn't renew, but I did buy 4 3-packs and actually attended 4 games. I'm getting older (like everybody:)) and the noon games take a toll on me physically. I'm a sidewalk fan but I've been going to Tech games since 1961 and I love Georgia Tech, but the thought of staying home and watching the noon games in my air conditioned man-cave with free parking, bathroom close by and delicious concessions in my refrigerator appealed to my rational side. But last year I went to the Virginia game on a whim after dropping off my wife at the airport. I saw a great game and had a great time and I realized that, to me, there is nothing like BEING THERE. I also realized that going in person keeps me young, if not physically, mentally. When I go to BDS for a Tech Game I become a 10 year old boy again, just like my first Tech game https://www.criticalpast.com/video/...Rice-Owls_Grant-Field_American-football-match in 1961. So I was excited when they announced the MBS games and I wanted to be an eye witness of the CGC era. This year you will find me in Section 109, Row 32, Seats 21-22, and all I have to say is GO JACKETS and THWG!

I wish I could like this 1000 times. As a STH, I lost almost all of last season due to a major health crisis. I missed everything in September, managed only to tailgate for Duke in October, and was able to attend only half the Miami game. My first full GT gameday was UVA—the last game of the season.

Being there for that one game negated all the awful stuff I had been through, prior to that. (Well, maybe not the fentanyl-induced nightmares while I was in the ICU...)

I’m okay with playing one game a year at MBS—with the understanding that I’ll still get my six games at the fountain of youth that is BDS.

Sugiura: How Georgia Tech fans are feeling about Mercedes-Benz series
Fans were asked on Twitter and Facebook through AJC accounts to rate Tech’s agreement to play one game annually in the $1.6 billion stadium between 2020-24 – including Notre Dame in 2020 and 2024 and Clemson in 2022, with opponents to be determined in 2021 and 2023 – on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being most in favor.

Out of 219 responses, 35 percent gave it a 10, 17 percent rated it a 9 and 15 percent graded it an 8. That’s 67 percent who rated it an 8 or higher. Of respondents, 16 percent graded it 1-4. The overall average score was 7.6.

Overall, my impression is that this has been received well. Not sure if my impression is accurate or not. However, I don't put much stock in Twitter and Facebook polls. People who have Twitter accounts and pay attention to the AJC enough to respond to Ken are not an accurate sample of overall sentiment.

We won't know for sure how GT fans(from highly engaged forum posters to casual watch when it is on TV) feel about it until tickets are sold, and then how many GT fans show up at the game in Nov. of 2020. I plan to have season tickets. I also plan to try to encourage GT fans who don't have season tickets to get tickets to that game. If all of the season ticket holders continue their season tickets and reach out to casual fans, then we can make a difference in the turnout for the ND game.

This is absolutely true. I am still on the wait and see train with regards to CGC. I am enthusiastic about the MBS deal though. I've been around long enough to know that it's ok to disagree with people, and yet still support them and wish them success.

Unfortunately, some on here have tilted exactly in the opposite direction and have been so negative about everything that it's hard to find anything that they agree with.

Either way, these are the facts:

1. CGC is the HC
2. We will play one game a year in MBS for 5 years
3. The only things I control are my attitude and my attendance

So, with all that said, I'll be at the games this year pulling for our boys on the Flats, and in a year I'll attend at least one game in MBS for a few seasons.
+1

Regardless of all that has happened, is happening and will happen, as I have said before, whether I like it, or not, I will be pulling for MY/OUR team. Period.

This is bigboy football fellas, get used to it. If you don't think UGA or Clemson or Bama would love to pull this deal off for themselves then you're out of touch imo. This is genius on our part. Yea, it may be a tad inconvenient for a couple fans I guess but the ROI for GT football as a whole should put all your complaints to bed. There shouldn't be a single negative comment about this deal whatsoever. Not one.
