We already have 20 verbal commits. We still need to add more offensive and defensive linemen. We lose only 12 seniors after this year. Attrition happens, but we have a young team. Just my humble opinion, I don't see 5 or more players leaving next year.

Feel like we beat this topic to death in another thread, but basically, this isn't Collins' first rodeo.

If the young man wants to be in the 404, the staff will welcome him with open arms. His parents have already been in contact with the staff. Matter of time before hes one of us.
I have no problem with him joining the team. I'm thrilled. We have a lot of needs. I'm pointing out our available scholarship numbers.

There are dog tracks in Bham, so gambling isn't that negatively looked at. I do believe there are more dog tracks littered around the state.

The state legislature sees the monies pouring out of Alabama into every surrounding state and say why can't we keep that in-state? Link

The first hurdle is getting a referendum. Like my dad used to say about alcohol referendums in Georgia way back when, "the only time you see the bootleggers in church is right before a "Wet or Dry" vote." IIRC The Montgomery clowns have even proposed almost (swap Alabama for Georgia) verbatim copy of Georgia's original law where if anyone proposed a casino or any other form of gambling, the "Hope" would automatically disappear. The last time a state lottery referendum was in Alabama was 1999 & the grass roots logic was predictable & the Pros lost 46-54.

The linked article above was written in March. There's still no referendum pending. Link

Exactly why the excitement that Tech might get a guy who quit on his previous team because he was 3rd string? And what would it say about competition if he chose GT as his next stop?

It seems like he can't get the starting job cause he doesn't fit the scheme. Too big to be a S and to small to be a LB.

We use a nickel back though that's a hybrid between S and LB, so maybe he's a better fit for us

Well, I dunno. ND spent an awful lot of time and money recruiting a 4(5?) star that was wrong for them. "Doesn't fit" covers up a lot of deficiencies, but my big concern is whether he will compete or not. And right now he is 0 for 1.

How many people leave a dead end job for a better opportunity? Guess they are all afraid to compete, too. Or does this only apply to Student Athletes?

If you want to use 1 game as a barometer how in the hell did we EVER beat the mutt? EVER.

We beat the mutt scumbags because we should beat the mutt scumbags.

"If you want to use 1 game as a barometer..."

Well hell, ok, they have only played twice so I will use Every game they have played.

And the self absorbed , talent wasting, iri****s blew both of them against the fleabags.

Maybe, please Lord, n.d. can man up in athens this year.

You are definitely living up to your handle. Not competing and the position coach putting his personally recruited ahead of you without merit is different

Dorsey Levens, Tashard Choice, and Anthony Allen were three of our best RB and all transfers. Are you saying, we shouldn’t take any transfers?

Not to mention John Dewberry, Tyrone Sorrells, Jim Lavan, Jim Bob Taylor, Jim Stevens, Cleo Johnson, Mike Snow (no relation to Lenny or Lloyd, AKA "Poocho"), Bubba Hoats and Rock Perdoni et al. Admittedly Stevens, Johnson, Snow, Hoats & Renso were JC transfers, just sayin'......

CGC has shown he's only bringing in high character guys he knows will fit in with his competition and effort-based culture. Clayton, Ezzard, and Sims have been great performers in camp so far and would be impact players if they gained eligibility. They have all competed. In contrast, we took a very hard pass on Brenton Cox because we knew he was someone who quit on his team. You worry far too much. CGC has shown he is only taking transfers from players he knows can help better the program, he isn't just taking anyone. Give the coaches credit for scouting out these players' mental game ahead of time. Keep this in mind: our whole program is now built on effort, so why would we waste our time with someone we don't think would fit that?
