I would hope we go into spring with no scholarship kickers. All should be PWO until one emerges. We can use those scholarships in other areas.I doubt he loses the ship. I still think his issues were mental. He will sort it this off season.

We are trying to get another Kicker to Walk-On....
....forgive the editorial, the more the better!

While I agree with the sentiment, if we made a four year scholarship offer, we should honor it. Guy doesn't have to even be on travel team. This is the downside of offering kickers scholarships that didn't work out. Competent kickers are so important to the overall game, I think the scholarship is more than worth it to get a bulovas or buttkicker.
Well, the athletes also need to be in "good" academic standing (a rather low bar, but the bar is there) to maintain their athletic scholarships, although there is room for exceptions. There might be something to that seeing how a portion (~10%?) of the athletic department is directly funded by the academic side (omitting the non-direct subsidies/benefits since that analysis gets murky), whereas I don't believe there's any monetary reciprocity (e.g. percentage of revenue from merchandise and ads). Regardless, last I saw of this conversation, somebody dug up the contract that showed the scholarship is year-by-year and therefore the 4 year commitment is only verbal. To challenge those anchored to the “4 year commitment” narrative - I’m fairly certain that academic scholarships are performance-based. Meaning, you have to hit certain grades and other milestones to maintain the scholarship. This idea that we blindly honor scholarships without factoring for performance is inconsistent with other merit-based collegiate scholarships.

Corey Munson wanted GT, old staff didn't want him...

To be fair, the old staff DID have a kicker in Wesley Wells, a kicker who was perfect for his career under them. That's great for Corey to get to kick the game winner from 52 yards, but he only made 60% of his FGA on the year and missed a PAT too. Let's not build this kid into an all-american based on 1 kick and act like CPJ is an idiot for not taking him.To be fair the old staff thought they had a kicker in wesley wells. While we would have been recruiting this kid.
WHAT???? CPJ & staff let the kid go.... That is on them. But to say he is not a quality Kicker is crazy....Lets compareTo be fair, the old staff DID have a kicker in Wesley Wells, a kicker who was perfect for his career under them. Well, based on my understanding of the word "perfect" in @yeti92's post that you replied to, Wells achieved 100% for both XP and FG in his first (freshman?) year, and look at his performance (or lack of performance) this current (past?) season...WHAT???? CPJ & staff let the kid go.... That is on them. But to say he is not a quality Kicker is crazy....Lets compare
Harrison Butker Freshman year:
XPA: 54 XPM: 53 for 98.1%
FGA:14 FGM:10 for 71%
Corey Munson Freshman year:
XPA: 40 XPM: 39 for 97.5%
FGA:28 FGM:17 for 60.7%
Lets look at his career Stats....
Harrsion Butker Career Stats at Tech
XPA: 210 XPM:208 for 99%
FGA: 60 FGM: 43 for 71%
Cory Munson wanted to be at Tech, the old staff did not want him even as a PWO.... It is what it is... But he looks more like Harrison Butker then the guys currently on the team and that is not Geoff Collins or Cory Munson's fault....
