Not worried, either way, we still need a ton of improvement on defense. Not sure Santucci will get us there. He made some strides, but we still tend to give up whatever the other team needs to beat us. No killer instinct with our defense. Still a lot of work to do.

He might need a good get-back guy to keep him from doing more damage than just kicking over a chair.

Speaking of, have we addressed our need for a new competent get-bak coach? It seems the current guy isn't getting the job done anymore. Isn't his sole responsibility to help CBK avoid the 15-yard penalties? Where was he when we needed him most? Admittedly it was completely justified, but I saw no effort from the guy who has one job.

Do you want to keep churning them year after year in the hopes of getting lucky like we have done ever since Tenuta left. How about we keep a guy for 4 - 5 years and give him time to recruit/develop players? I'm tired of switching them out. I think this guy has potential (see potential other job oppurtinities). Let's give him 3-5 years in place before we pass judgement. I'm tired of new DC's every year or two.

I agree.

It occurs to me that CBK must know when the fire is there in another coach or player. He has it himself, and I think if you have it you know when others don't.

Now, there may be times when he has to make do with the best available or best obtainable, but I think he's constantly on the lookout for coaches and players whose passion burns as hot as his does.

Huh? We were near dead last in the entire country in defense last year and we were top 40 this year with virtually the same players. We were dead last in run defense in 2023 and were top 10 this year. “Made strides” is a serious understatement.

Mods please ban. And send out the double-secret GTSwarm hit squad to kneecap this MF-er.
You know that's just @kg01 and his neighbor, right?

Bonus points if you know what movie this is from.

It’s funny after 2023 my top 3 priorities for our team to improve for 2024 was run D, run D and run D. Well we did that with flying colors just to end up with same record lol. To be fair we had a tougher schedule and King’s injury impacting us. I do expect the run D to take a step back next year with the loss of some veteran D linemen, but hopefully still above average. Santucci did a great job turning us around in a year, but if he leaves I hope Key considers Jess Simpson for D coordinator. Think he played a big role in the transformation as well.
