Just my opinion, nothing else: I think Santucci and Faulkner are both guys who are looking towards future goals. I don't think either of them would be happy being the coordinator at GT for 10 years. I think they both are making their names for their future goals. I think that drives a fire that you won't get from someone who wants a 10 year stable job. It seems like that fire and desire is what Key has been looking for in coaches. When they do leave for better positions, I expect that Key will find similar replacements. Not people who copy what one of these guys do schematically, but people who have the same career drive to succeed. Also, if one of those guys leaves for a HC position at a good school, it will give Key and GT the impression as a place where up-and-coming coaches can make their name and move on to higher positions. Being -THE- place where young-smart-innovative coaches want to be is not a bad thing.
Agree. 3-4 years is a nice solid tenure. I just dislike the revolving door approach where we're switching coaches and schemes as often as my wife changes her hair color.

But the slate of teams we played this season was harder. Also, didn’t lose games to teams like BGSU.
We played a very hard schedule and had a hurt QB for a large part of the year. Need to watch the games. Oh yeah, we went to 8 OTs with the favorites to win the National Championship and deserved to win (in my mind we did win) but let's just gloss over all that. Thanks for you comment stinger.

Might not have been the best written sentence by me but there’s a difference between “defense naturally got better” and what I said naturally the defensive coordinator gets the credit. I do think Santucci deserves credit for the improved defense along with us having a a really mature defensive line. What does the defense look like without a bunch of seniors on the defensive line? We will see next season. And my greater point is does anyone get the blame for us not forcing more turnovers this season or does the DC only get credit for the positives?

I don’t have data to back it up but the safety blitz felt really inefficient the way we run it. Even if strategically there’s a value to it, most other teams safeties get a running start at the snap and atleast factor into the play where as ours seem to have no impact due to blitzing from so far away.
I noticed when Tech blitzed it was rarely effective. The blitzer was showing his hand to early or simply couldn't get home in time or was blocked fairly easily.

You lack any context with this statement. Was the '24 schedule the same as the '23 schedule? What about team chemistry? What about national perceptions? Recruiting?

My thought is that 7-6 in 2024 >>>> 7-6 in 2023.
Not only this, but how did we get there? 2023 was a mess with unexpected bad losses to both BGSU and BC. There were no bad losses this season and we played every game of a harder schedule tough despite significant injuries.

With Ol Jerry the Jackets complete lack of understanding of the game and inability to see obvious improvements when they are right in your face, could you imagine if were an actual coach. He would give the Waffle House coach a run for the money as worst FB coach ever.

His posts are by far some of the worst I see here on a consistent basis from a complete lack of knowledge perspective.

Syracuse and VT were bad losses, but not in same vein as bowling green, but they were bad. VT i know King was sidelined, but the performance in both of those games was uninspiring. Coaches and player's laid eggs in those two games.

kg's posts this year had a snappier quality, were more timely, and he improved his gifs, but he's still the same kg as the year before...... like 7-6 level kg, but, I enjoyed it better this season.....

Did I do it right?!?

I can't lie, Key's unsportsmanlike penalty was on me. I was derelict in my duties. The film session at the 'get-bak!' coach conference was not kind.

But I did have a good season overall. Seriously with all the terri-bad reffing this year, the fact that no one got murdered is an accomplishment.

And did you hear about that oversized streaker in the Miami game? No? That's right ..... you didn't...

Losing to a 10-3 Syracuse team was a Bad loss. LOL! SMU was the only ACC team who won more games than Syracuse this season. Syracuse was a very good team this season! McCord led College football in passing yards and was 4th in passing TDs. Him torching GT was not a one off game!

Syracuse played the weakest acc schedule of any member. If you can't see Tech was the marketed netter team you aren't looking. Did you watch the game? I recall a complete melting on this form after that loss. It was called a terrible loss by many on this board. It still is a bad loss.

Syracuse had a higher SOS than Duke, Cal, SMU, UNC according to https://collegefootballnetwork.com/2024-college-football-strength-of-schedule/

and even looking at just ACC schedule, SMU's top 2 regular season opponents were Louisville and Duke whereas Cuse played Miami and Tech.

People thought the FSU win was a fantastic win in the moment too, but now it clearly was not. Perception can change, and no 3pt loss to a 10 win team is a bad loss imo

I think 2024 F$U was a highly talented team with a head/heart problem. We dinged that head/heart issue pretty hard and pushed them onto the slippery slope. IOW, if they win our game, their season may have been much different.

First no matter who we lose too we always have lots on here who melt down.
Think about when the game was after we played fsu and ga state so they had a pretty good films to see how and what we could do. They only played one game and they played a very vanilla offense and defense.
I don’t think it was as bad of loss as you seem to think. If I remember right we just didn’t get our running game going like we would have liked
