I don't know what we should do. I'm not happy with mediocrity and I hate losing more than I like winning. I do like CPJ though and I think that he is a damn good coach. I would only want to see a change if I was 1,000% sure that we could hire Charlie Strong, Chad Morris, or PJ Fleck. Those guys are great recruiters and have had a good amount of success.

no biggie , just get the admin to tell CPJ to get into the top half of acc in recruitment rankings or cancel next season so CPJ can focus on getting a little talent here.(at half pay of course)(and make that an annual requirement) .. maybe even hire an OC and scrap the gimmick offense which hurts recruiting

I am sure coaches will be beating our door down when they hear that we are offering a below average salary, and we will fire them even if they are one of the most successful coaches in the history of the program.

No they won't but it's pointless to have long drawn out posts about improving the o line, recruiting better etc... because it' been the same song in dance. I bet we could pull up posts from 2013 saying. " If only we could fire sewak." Or " Wait until we have a passing attack PJ will pull out his Hawaii playbook." Well it' 2017 and now were still saying the same thing

Also AT WR why can we not get kids like Jalen Camp the ball more than twice a season. I just think there are more ways to get players the ball. Yeah I know I'm not a coach and I don' see the kids practice everyday. But coaches are wrong even the great PJ.

1. Can't pass block. 10 year problem
2. A-back playing QB. Stud athlete. Noodle arm

You guys realize CPJ is about #40 on the head coaches salary list right? I'd say we're usually about top 40 in cfb. I don't understand how you can argue for expecting top 20 when you only pay for 40.

Charlie Strong over PJ? Is this where we're at?

Jesus Christ.

Charlie Strong is a really good coach, or did you miss his tenure at Louisville? Texas never gave him a chance. They had given up on him there before his first spring football game. I also like him because he does things the right way and runs a clean program.

We have Adidas money coming in, ACC network money coming starting 2019 I believe, and our last two basketball coach contracts coming off the books soon. We're also getting lots of cash from the NCAA tournament profit sharing. The athletic department can also fundraise more. We can do this stuff in the next few years and it's way better than firing a head coach who has done pretty well.

So PJ doesn’t run a clean program or do things the right way?

Strong would be a step back. He had the best players in Texas and couldn’t win.

I'd like to see us run a multiple offense with option concepts. I just cant figure out how our players are supposed to be so smart but the main problem every week "execution cant block the right guy." There's a coaching problem if our players cant seem to get it

Completely agree. It's amazing to me that we can't recruit the best athletes because they can't hack it at MaTech, but all we hear every week is how we have to dumb down the playbook (especially D) so the players can grasp it. Its quite an anomaly, actually. Convenient for sure.

Defense finally figured out Marshall can't make more than one progression on his passes
On one of his interceptions there where not 1 but 2 wide *** open wr. His skills as a QB has regresses and that is coaching.

I think Lucas should start the rest of the year it is obvious that the celling this year is not very high with Marshall....

Don't really know the answer all I know is it's hard to watch this **** show that has been on the field for last 11 out if the last 16 quarters

I'm not saying that CPJ doesn't run a clean program. Like I posted earlier, I am a fan of CPJ and think that he is a damn good coach. I just like Strong because he also runs a clean program. He is also a way better recruiter than CPJ which we desperately need. He is also a very good defensive coach. At Texas, they never gave him a chance. They only gave him 2 years to fix and turn around a program that had struggled for 3 or 4 years before he got there. There were also many Texas boosters that wanted him to be fired as soon as he was hired. He was coaching with one hand tied behind his back at Texas.

This is all rumor but the Bridgewater class Strong recruited to Louisville had I think 3-4 South Florida kids that were a package deal through a street agent/handler. They were bought and paid for. In fact the deal was so shady that even Miami stopped recruiting them. Again only rumor, but I've heard it from several people from the area and know who Bridgewater was mixed up with during his recruiting and the guy is straight dirt.

Or we can just get another 35 majors, drop calculus as being mandatory in all majors, hire a bigger staff, and upgrade the facilities. We have a top notch coach, it's not his fault we are mediocre. If we want to be a big boy football team then we need to do what the big boy teams are doing, until then don't expect much change.

You might be right but I would counter that with one hand behind your back it’s easier at Texas. And as far as recruiting, I thought that was Roof’s greatest asset? For years I’ve heard that. Think Strong can come in and change things overnight?

I don’t think that strong is horrible. I do think CPJ is much better, especially for us. I don’t think there’s a chance in hell Strong would perform anywhere near PJ’s record at Navy which is much closer to Tech than Texas is. (And I know you aren’t calling for the change, just throwing out the fact there are options)

Today I think this was a team loss (which is on PJ) and that he has a couple staff members that need to go away. I don’t think either will, one is his guy the other a fan fave due to his time at tech. But I am confident we beat uga. Bank it.

Go Jackets!

Let me ask this do you all think we can field another 2014 team / season?
I just can't tell.if the ACC around us has gotten better or our coaching worse since then

UVA, VT, and Miami all have better coaches, Duke and UNC the same, Pitt debatable compared to 2014. Chryst didn't do anything there but he's done fine at Wisconsin
