Do you see any similarities to the Pitt upset last year ... big, physical team with a good QB, well-coached ????Don’t feel this is the one, sorry…

How can you claim that? Tulane finished in the Top 25 last year and won its bowl game in impressive fashion. I agree that over the years there has been no comparison, but right now...I am not at all certain of that!Of course we're more physically talented than Tulane. We may not be as well coached, but raw talent? Don't be dramatic...
Who in the SEC West looks like they match up well against anyone good? Bama, nope. A&M, nope. LSU, nope. Awbarn, nope. You would think Ole Miss is SEC West favorites with these takes
In my opinion, the defense looks like they are much better coached than they have been in previous years. They aren't looking to the sideline for the defensive play call while the ball is snapped. The CBs and safeties appear to be working the same coverage instead of totally different coverages like the previous years.Otherwise this year looks a lot like the rest of our DC’s tenure. We look poorly coached (tackling, guys running into each other on stunts, option D, etc), before we get to the talent and injury side of the equation. We had similar personnel is non-healthy Keion White years.
If we do not beat Ole Miss or Wake, it will be a real task to get to 6 winsLooking at the talent level, coaching experience, and results...Ole Miss should take care of us handily Saturday night.
But games are played on the green fields in stadiums, and I will hope for the best and an upset. Those guys aren't behemoths, but they are better and deeper than us. Doesn't mean we can't win/get lucky/play clean while they don't/etc

Does this ranking system consider transfers and if so are their ratings based on their HS rating or are they rerated based on what they did in college prior to transferring.2023 College Football Team Talent Composite

In some parts of the defense I agree with you, in others not so much.In my opinion, the defense looks like they are much better coached than they have been in previous years. Yes, the tackling by the DBs has been bad. Yes, the LBs hit the wrong holes at times. The difference to me is that those are things the coaches can actually work on with the players. For the previous years, the defense has looked like it really didn't know what it was doing, or even what is was supposed to do.
We keep revisiting this topic (Tulane vs. GT talent) for some reason.Does this ranking system consider transfers and if so are their ratings based on their HS rating or are they rerated based on what they did in college prior to transferring.
Our defensive talent is no where near Tulane's. I think we are going to have to develop our guys a lot and recruit defensive talent with more vigor. Maybe we can find some gems like Keon White in the transfer portal.
I think Thacker has had long enough to develop our defense. There is no way we should be this underwhelming after as many years as he has been in charge.
Go Jackets!
As far as I can tell, 247 does not rerank players when compiling the talent composite. However, they have a separate ranking for transfers that does reevaluate players. Not sure how you arrived at this conclusion. I haven’t watched Tulane play so I don’t know about the “eye test” comparison, and I haven’t done a deep dive into Tulane’s recruits, but our overall “Talent Composite” is ranked 36th while Tulane’s is 71st. About what you’d expect. Perhaps they have more talent on D, but I’m curious how you know this.
Now you could certainly argue that we have more talent (raw ability) but worse coaching, especially over the last few years. But I would be surprised if our raw player talent is “nowhere near” Tulane’s.

Overall Team Talent: GT: 36, Tulane: 71.
Transfer Talent: GT: 43, Tulane: 82
These are only one system's metric for talent, but I think in aggregate it does as good a job as any. I think the question has been answered.
By the way, Ole Miss Composite Talent stands at 23. Solid, but not elite.
We are using the Ole Miss game to decide:Wait. What this thread?
My advice: sit out the debate now so that you can claim the game went exactly as you expected
Started at 20.5. Spread is now down to 18 or 18.5 at most sportsbooks:Spread has moved a bit to 19.5
for some of us, would you please tell us what the connections are with players and coaches. Another AJC link that goes nowhere.Ole Miss, Georgia Tech have familiar connections
There are coaching ties, and four former Yellow Jackets play for Ole Miss.www.ajc.com
