It has never been directly stated on this site outside some of the diehards, but I once wanted to go a different direction with this coaching opening.

Tom Herrion has been a great asset to this program. I still think Sharman White or Kory McCray would have been an unbelievable addition to the program and would actually still like one of them to replace one of the current underperforming parts of the staff but hiring Herrion was a good call.

Not surprised to see GT and Gregory on this list. They have an interesting take on GT though, one that is hard to argue with.

It's actually very easy to argue with his take on GT because it's completely misleading. Gregory has won just 27% of his conference games. Hewitt won ~40% and Hewitt and Cremins combined to win roughly 42.5% of their conference games since 1990. It is in fact very easy to say gregory has underachieved when his winning % his 15 points lower than his predecessors' since 1990, because not all non above .500 teams are equal. Hewitt had 8 teams finish within a game of .500 or better in conference and Cremins 5 such teams, in the time frame he choose. Both 8-8 and 3-15 are years that aren't above .500 in conference. But one is still significantly better than the other.

Yeah but in his last 4 seasons Hewitt won 27.1% of his conference games so........BG has at least maintained the expected amount of success.

Hewitt had to go. Whether or not BG was the correct replacement is another matter. A god damn mop and bucket would have been sufficient just to get a change of face of the program.

Hewitt was 21 - 43 for a winning% of 32.8% in conference his last 4 years. And even if you throw out gregory's first year, his winning% only goes up to an impressive 27.8%. Which means even spotted a year, gregory is still doing worse in conference than not only Hewitt's LAST 4 years, but also Hewitt's WORST 4 years, which would be 18-46 for 28.125%.

Tonight was the first time I looked at anything to do with Tech basketball since football season started. On paper this roster looks pretty good if we can stay healthy. I'm hoping for a surprising season to make us all forget about the football season! Seems like we have a lot of depth and good size. We need the pg position to get better if we have a shot.

Hmmm I must have hit a wrong digit somewhere

Has there been any news about a meet-&-greet with the team or open intra-squad scrimmage?

We're pretty close to the start of the season so perhaps I missed it.

I'm going to an event tonight that was open to the first 150 students to sign up. Schedule for the night is:

6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. // Basketball stations with the teams & facility tour
7:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. // Food provided in the Callaway Club
8:00 p.m. // Drawing for student half-shot to win $10,000

I know there was also something for season ticket holders last week, but thats all I've heard of. Sounds like we aren't gonna get any exhibition games or scrimmages

Did anything more come out about the Memphis scrimmage?

Specifically like to know how Jacobs played against Goodwin

I have us picked to finish 9th, but I think we could be anywhere between 6th and 14th. To finish 9th, we need to win eight ACC games. I want to see us beat Clemson and Pitt twice each, Syracuse, Wake, BC, and VPI. We play Louisville twice, and I think we could beat them at home in January.

I had forgotten that we have five seniors on this team. With three commitments so far, this means we need seven more new faces named before the end of next season. That is a lot of turnover in two years.

I still like Gregory and hope we do well this year. With the seniors we should be better at the end of the game? Just please please please shoot better on the free throw line. That seems to win or lose a lot of close games.
