Based on NC State's defensive profile, we should be able to Run The Ball. That bodes well for the possibility that King can manage the game without Philo's arm. Remains to be seen though, and I think our coaches will play whoever helps us win.
NC ST is weird. They do well at keeping the other team behind the chains, but when they don’t it’s an explosive play. Their run stats look out of whack because they make you punt, then they give up huge plays

I'm sure there's a been few dislocations and rotator cuff injuries in this group. I've had a dislocation and two full thickness tears out of the four ligaments in a rotator cuff and my guess is that it is a rotator cuff. I could still do alot with the rotator cuff but overhead stuff was out of the question. A dislocation sidelined me longer.

That would be called the 1/Ted Roof defense, or inverted Bend But Don't Break. Also known as Don't Bend, Just Break.

I don't think pyrons future is at QB. His throwing motion hasn't been the same since he broke his wrong shoulder collar bone. However i do think he could put on some size and he a hell of an Taysom Hill type H back.
I’m curious what PV dad would say about this. I also thought his throws looked different.
I will say- if anybody is becoming fullback, it’s Kyle Efford. He was the punch man in highschool and a damn good one.

Me too. Might be time for surgery… after my other hip.

This may or may not have been previously posted, but if it has been I haven't seen it and it doesn't hurt to repeat it. Miami averaged 43.6 ppg scored against their previous 5 ACC opponents. So Santucci and his gang held them to 20 points less than their average. Against the 3 better defenses of VT, L'ville, & Duke, they averaged 47.6.

The hater in me wonders why we heard none of this during the broadcast. So it smacks of damage control after the fact since the Cam-centric stuff blew up in smoke.

But the kinder, gentler part of me appreciates the kind words and high praise ... including early Heisman hype on Philo (you heard me right)...

With player movement being what it is, it's not worth saving it for a year he may not ever be here.
The key words are MAY not be here, no one knows for sure how it will play out. It could happen he gets dinged up one season and cannot play that year near 100%. Would be nice to have that extra year in his hip pocket in case he wants it. I would say a decision should only be made which takes into account how the Philo's feel about it.

Good or bad this is the thread for post game.

Will add a good 1st Half 😁
I will have a heaping helping of crow for what I posted about Miami being too good, too talented, etc. ad. nauseum. The Jackets showed their heart and character to a doubting fan base, well me anyway, an opponent that looked like they though this was going to be a cakewalk and most of all to the Atlanta media. Good job Jackets.

After watching it twice. My own observations which given my pre game posts may not be all that spot on.

1) Many times when Tech has beaten or tied a heavily favored opponent like Alabama 1962, Tennessee 1966, Notre Dame 1975(?) Miami more than a couple, Virginia Tech, and so on the formula has generally been one of Control the clock, run the football limit the opponent's possessions, pressure the opponent's quarterback and no turnovers. It is a tried and true formula for underdogs everywhere, not just on the Flats.

2) One of the absolute most courageous performances I have ever seen. Haynes King and Trey Cooley in particular.

3) Miami is still Thug U. Always has been always will be. It is what they do and who they are.

4) For those more attentive and knowledgeable, do you know or believe Tech was going to attempt a fake punt from their side of the 50 late in the game when Mario came screaming down the sidelines like a banshee? I don't but he must have seen something or maybe he just wanted to waste a timeout.

5) Miami had played four games in a row...they looked tired, a step slower especially on defense. It may or may not have been a factor.

6) Mario had the same look on his face that Dean Wormer had at the end of the movie Animal House. "I really hate these guys".

Redshirts have been useless at Tech for more than a decade. Most players graduate from Tech by the end of the redshirt Sophomore year. All you are doing by redshirting them is giving players an extra year to play somewhere else after they graduate. Play the best players on the roster and redshirt the worst.
I know these guys get a lot of academic support from GTAA but that is quite an achievement to graduate inside of four years.

And you’re right, play the guys while they are here.

Think of it this way, they frequently start in the summer (and sometimes in the spring) before their Freshman year. They go to school over the summer every year after that. By the end of Summer of their redshirt Sophomore year, they will have completed 9-11 semesters, when you can graduate in eight.

2025 will be King's 6th year, class of 2020. You never know how things will play out. Philo will not start next year if King comes back healthy and he will need 2 years as a starter to fully show case his talent. If he ends up dinged up, like King was this year, it may serve him well to play his 5th year to maximize his draft stock. He may well choose to sit out only one more game to have that option in his pocket.
