They have reason to be more optimistic. How many straight home games have they won. How many teams besides Alabama have they lost to in the regular season the past 4 years. They are loaded with talent and their depth is extremely talented. In my text group we discuss the mental block GT has when the two teams are equally matched. I was watching the game with my wife’s family. Mostly Uga alums but a few not affiliated with either school.
The unaffiliated ones left early in the fourth quarter thinking things were settled. My son and I both said the game wouldn’t be settled until there was 0 time left. We have seen the movie before. At halftime the dwags were upbeat, saying they were only good for one good half per game. Seemed more cautiously optimistic than a Tech fan would be in the same circumstance.
Yeah… Joe Testicletour… he’s conducting a jocksniffing expedition of SEC football programs… nothing new unfortunatelyJoe Tessitore was even worse
This is what is most frustrating for me. We need to beat these guys when we get the chance. They are always uber talented. That will result in mostly lopsided games. Every once in a while we get a game where they aren't at their best and we are firing on all cylinders. We overcome the talent deficit either with good coaching or heroic play making and snatch a win from them. That was tonight, but we couldn't finish the job. Who knows the next time we will get that chance.This. I’ve been watching Tech football for 20 years. I’ve seen us beat them three times. We had this game won. We have to win the games we should. There’s no guarantee we’ll beat them next year. We said that same **** last year when it was a close game and guess what? We lost again. They’ve won 20 out of 23 games. That’s embarrassing. Giving up a 17-0 lead is embarrassing. If the game was truly back and forth and we lost 44-42 in 8 OTs, sure that’s something to hang your hat on, but choking a big lead is not.

I hope you didn’t mistake my post as any sort of criticism of this team or its effort tonight. WTBS our group of Tech alums think there is a mental component that rears its ugly head when we play them in close games. We have no proof but we have seen it enough to believe that it’s a thing. And tonight it was not talent as these two teams could not have been more evenly matched. They have reason to be more optimistic. How many straight home games have they won. How many teams besides Alabama have they lost to in the regular season the past 4 years. They are loaded with talent and their depth is extremely talented.
That eventually catches up to lesser talented teams.
Losing sucks tonight. Still we are a good team. It’s been a while since we have been a good team that can play with the best teams in the Country.
I’ve been a loyal Tech fan since 1970. I couldn’t tell for certain that the ball was tipped on the DPI, I for sure couldn’t confirm the ball was out on the one yard line, and it was really tough to see whether that was targeting on the fumble. I said out loud Key should have gone for two to win it at the end of regulation because with home field and more depth, I prefer to push all my chips to the middle of the table right then and there because I’m controlling my own destiny, not depending on our D or worrying about the officials. Would have been much easier- at least for me - to see it end that way. Instead it was a slow, painful defeat.Tipped pass called DPI
Fumble on the 1 not given
targetting not called on the king hit
get the **** out of here.

Same comments to you as above…. I have no qualms about this program, it’s coaches nor the players. My comments about the mental block are not meant to be disparaging. And it transcends coaches and players as it is a decades old issue. I have seen us lose 20 point leads going all the way back to 1978 in person and now a 17 point lead. Doesn’t make me any less proud of the effort tonight .The 4th quarter is where the very good coaches separate themselves.
I think Key is a very good coach, but you can tell Smart's advantage of years of being a HC and managing games over Key showed this game.
Key will get there, but it doesn't make this loss hurt any less right now. Our boys battled for him and multiple players went back into the games with injuries. That means a lot for this program.
Honestly I was surprise by the decision not to go for two at the end. We were debating that and I am in your camp given that they had scored touchdowns on 4 consecutive possessions.I’ve been a loyal Tech fan since 1970. You're right maybe one day Key will learn to slip that money bag to the refs in the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter is where the very good coaches separate themselves.

Its all money dude. Football has never been so fixed. Billions now at risk for tv deals and narrativesYou're right maybe one day Key will learn to slip that money bag to the refs in the 4th quarter.
Give me a break! Smart got out coached by Key up and down the field this game! The whole world saw that the refs gave the game to ugag! It is all over social media from random sports media to other SEC team fans and even Roddy White calling out the clear biased officiating in the 4th quarter! I feel we get hosed by refs all the time but it has never been this bad and I have never seen so many non-Tech and even anti-Tech people calling it out like this!
Wait. So a 19 point dog with its whole secondary injury took a 17-0 lead and pushed the home team to 8ot and that coach didn’t outcoach anyone. You are a fool. You had one play decide this game; and it happened on what likely should have been called a personal foul. Thats not on any coach. Nor is a bs Pi on 4th down. Or no call facemask/hold on a td drive. Please. We blew a 17 point lead. Key did not out coach anyone lol
Just for the sake of discussion, the line was around -18 points for Uga. This is established by neutral observers and not by fans of either team. The fact that we outperformed neutral expectations by 16 points speaks to a outperformance by Key in the game? Agree or disagree? We blew a 17 point lead. Key did not out coach anyone lol
Nobody choked but the refs.May agree with some on here that this was a choke job... but if so by our coaches, certainly not the players
I agree. Key was the problem to miss a perfectly easy 25 yard fg. Lol.May agree with some on here that this was a choke job... but by our coaches, certainly not the players
dont try to reason with utterly stupid comments. The coaching plan was great. Could some decisions be better. Yes. Could a kicker make a 28 yarder or whatever. Yup. Lol. Our kicker is a 50 percent failure. It caught up to us. Start there. Then add on everything else.Just for the sake of discussion, the line was around -18 points for Uga. Also the neutral opinions from friends and colleagues with no attempt to either team leads me to think most observers felt that Key outperformed his opponent on the other side as well. Not saying that Key was perfect here fwiw.
