I think Georgia had (and still has) delusions of grandeur. They would rather "prove" their worth against nobodies than play even a mediocre (at times) regional opponent.

Well, I think they are on a high after last year and cant blame them. They believe Kirby is Smart enough to take them to the promised land. That being said, looking at it from their side, why would they want to play our offense one week away from the SEC championship game? It would greatly benefit them to play a patsy with a more traditional offense that late in the season. I understand there reasoning.

Dooley had a couple of stretches that would be prime hot seat material in this day and age.

Looking at the rest of UGa's non conference schedule, as has been posted earlier, it's Austin Peay (FCS and also non scholarship?), MTSU (former FCS) and UMass (also former FCS).
Guess they don't want to schedule anybody like Boise (also former FCS, FWIW) again.
