Game 7 #GTvsUNC Predictions

I listened to Kelly on YouTube last night and he said that they had originally called 1 play coming out of the timeout and then changed the play. One guy who would be in for the first play and out for the second play didn't hear the play change, thus there were 12 in the huddle. Don't know if that was true.

Sounds like a plausible explanation for the egregious error. Not an excuse, but plausible.

Make that 1 yard on 3rd down at the 2 minute mark and UNC at best gets the ball back with less than a minute in the game. Just a horrendous blunder! Our defense is what it is, a somewhat below average P4 defense. Expecting them to be different than they are is not realistic. They played about like they play every week. Ok at best. We are not good enough to give away opportunities that can seal a game away.

None of what you are saying seems to really be in a disagreement with me in regards to the offensive series. I agree that the illegal substitution penalty was a big blunder, and following it up on 3rd and 6 with an extremely obvious qb sneak that hadn't gained more than 4 yards all day was another big blunder.

I also agree we are not good enough to give away opportunities to put a game away, but we do that a lot.

You're right, giving up easy scoring drives of 68 and 56 yards had nothing to do with it



We were gashing them on the ground WHEN there was a threat of passing. When there wasn't we couldn't run very well at all. The 68 yd play came *drumroll* ... after we finally let Pyron pass!

RPO…Zach did what he’s been coached to do for the past two years under Faulkner and Weinke. DB was playing off. It was effective enough for the next play to be a huge success. Jamal ran the next play like he was coached to do, and it was blocked to almost complete perfection. Rest is history. Job well done by all involved.

Our coaches need to start getting some credit though. They take a lot of heat and so do players. But Key does what he needs to keep the heat off the players, and he does an excellent job of it. To act like they don’t trust Zach or any player for that matter is simply crazy. Actually they have so much trust in Zach he downed our first punt of the game. Yes, he was the first guy down there on punt coverage. You don’t put a guy out on punt coverage if you don’t trust a guy, his ability, and his decision making.

These coaches aren’t idiots and they have reasons for each and everything they do. Just like the one single pass Zach had in the game. He made the right read and that’s because coaches like Weinke and Faulkner have the rep’d that play thousands of times with both Haynes and Zach. They aren’t making a guy the #2 qb and changing the play book for him. Yeah Haynes is a step or so faster than Zach and maybe a little more slithery. But there are a couple of different ways to skin a cat. Faulkner is brilliant and Weinke has his QBs fully prepared. So if Haynes isn’t able to go, Zach, or whoever it is, will be fully prepared.

We are 5-2 and this team has a very exciting opportunity in front of them. They have a chance to slay a giant. It will take a total team effort from everyone involved and associated with the football program…everyone. One thing I can promise you is coach Key and this coaching staff will have them ready for the moment. That I can assure you.

We agree in general. Hard to tell on the 3rd down play if it was a pure run or Pyron had an option to throw if there was something obvious. Clearly that was the "safe" option. Might speak to trust in the QB at that moment in the game. The run did force UNC to use a TO. The near disaster punt really hurt as UNC got great field position and the defense was poor and stupid getting a 15 yard penalty for a very late hit out of bounds. Somehow they found a way to keep UNC out of the EZ, thank God!

I just want to say I really appreciate yours and your son's attitudes about this entire situation. It's very refreshing. It most cases Like Zach finds himself, both he and his parents would be looking for the fastest way out of town in today's culture of early redshirts, transfer portal and NIL. I love how you vocally defend the coaches and support the way they invest in and build your son even though he wasn't handed the starting job. I can't wait to see him get his chance and couldn't be more excited to pull for him when he does. Would be ecstatic to see him shred the ND secondary this weekend. And not just for selfish reasons.

It most cases Like Zach finds himself, both he and his parents would be looking for the fastest way out of town in today's culture of early redshirts, transfer portal and NIL. I love how you vocally defend the coaches and support the way they invest in and build your son even though he wasn't handed the starting job. I can't wait to see him get his chance and couldn't be more excited to pull for him when he does. Would be ecstatic to see him shred the ND secondary this weekend. And not just for selfish reasons.

The whole Gt Qb room is quality = talent and grounded.

We come early to the tailgate then hustle over to watch warm ups. For years the only the starters passes had zip and accuratcy. Now its hard to spot the starter.

Because of the kings, pyrons , rhodes , we are in a very good place.
A war on Saturday with ND would be an inflection point.
