First Offensive Play vs. UT?

I will say rocket toss every single year. It's not as sexy as the 3O, a pass, or PA, but man, the ball gets to the perimeter SOOO fast. If WR blocking is good, it's almost a guaranteed 6 yards.
That's why I like running it on the first play of the game and everybody's so fired up. There's no mesh to screw up, no quick decision making for the QB and as you say, it's almost a guaranteed 5-6 yards.

Rocket toss is my vote as well! If it picks up 6-7 yards then we run a 3 seams route. After that we'll have a good idea how the secondary is defending us.

Another play I like is the counter play. The one we ran with Orwin against Kansas in 2011.

I think it's this Iso, but I'm not sure.

TM at qb.
Bunch formation, left ab in motion right, student body right, and rocket toss right , but only coach and TM know it is fake rocket toss qb around left end. 30 yards!
Bring in LJ
Now on left hash
Base formation but strong line right, right ab in motion left - delayed snap till he clears well past qb, b b stays in to block on pass as qb rolls right looking toward right wr, left wr on deep slant , in motion ab on wheel, left ab corella blocks then Runs across field and qb hits him on dead run. He is out at 5 yard line.
Bring in M J
Bring in Shamire
Everyone knows = qb follow right.
TD.
Everyone is happy!

At ICE we work hard to exceed expectations.
