I was surprised to see us with only 80 scholarships at the beginning of camp. I thought we were at 85 finally.

I don't know that PJ will ever play with all 85 schollies spoken for. I think he likes having a couple in the back pocket for transfers and to reward a walk-on or two.

Practice No. 6: Wednesday, Aug. 9

THE FLATS -- On what felt like a brisk fall day in late September on The Flats, the Yellow Jackets returned to the practice field in full pads once again for their sixth practice of 2017 fall camp.

Practice Details:
Georgia Tech donned full pads for the second straight day on Wednesday afternoon, as the sixth practice lasted 23 periods and just at two and half hours. The practice wrapped up with an 11-on-11 full-contact red zone drill - defense versus the offense.

Plays of the Day:
Defensive highlights stood out in the first 11-on-11 session midway through practice, as junior defensive tackle Desmond Branch was able to chase down a ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage to set the tone for the defense early in the drill. However, the offense responded a few plays later when sophomore B-back Dedrick Mills burst through a hole on the left side of the line and ran untouched to pay dirt before the whistle stopped the play. The defense had an answer to finish out the 11-on-11 period, as junior linebacker Victor Alexander busted through the offensive line to make a big play on the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage before the siren sounded to end the period.

The offense made some plays in the 7-on-7 passing drills, as redshirt freshman Jay Jones had one completion go close to 30 yards down the left side line to a leaping Stephen Dolphus and then later on in the period hit fellow redshirt freshman A-back Xavier Gantt with a deep ball down the hash marks that sailed over 40-plus yards in the air before finding the hands of Gantt near the goal line.

Not to be outdone, the defense came up big in the 11-on-11 red zone drill by forcing and recovering a fumble on the two-yard line on one of the first series of the final period.

It seems that DM & JJ Green put on some weight in the off-season. CPJ came up with a couple of nicknames for both ---Chubb & Little Chubb.:ROFLMAO:
All good now, per DM.

LOVE hearing Jay Jones making plays with his arm! He can be a lethal weapon if his passing talents matches his running talents.
