First of all, I didn't pin the loss on Defense only. I explicitly mentioned failure on O. In fact, you begin by trying to refute my reasons for the failure on O.
So, let's turn to your response.
Based on your response, it is your opinion that passing plays are only those which result in a pass being thrown?
Your view is that an observer cannot tell from watching sacks and scrambles that a passing play was called?
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there weren't drives that stalled because we either didn't execute our base offense well or just got beat on some plays.
I'm asking you to explain the logic of citing passes-thrown against the assertion we ran more passing plays as their lead grew.
Can u guys discuss the stat that of our last 9 "chunkit" completions we caught 5 and they caught 4?
Imo most quarter backs are tall because the ol can engage the rusher at the line and retreat to a "pocket" . A 5-9/10" qb can't see over the shoulder pads in a tight pocket. Some times with the extra time gained by forming a pocket a taller quarterback can scan the field as "receivers make a second move."
Watching every offensive play gt verses duke - u will see our pass blocking is mostly at the line of scrimmage with the q b deep behind the line( So he can see down field). The qb has been looking at the receiver since he came out of his motion (which late in the game fooled no one) and he is going to chunk it when that set guy breaks open. Late in the game the intentional over throw is a pic.
Our 5 9/10 qb started year at approx 50% completion rate in first few games. His end games were at approx 25% for a season avg of 38%
We run a low level high school passing attack. Imo that should be fine if the option is working as we will be close and getting stronger as game progresses.
Coach was as surprised as any of us that the qb didn't finish better. This year lets hope we get rolling and our qb throws looks more like passes than "chunk its".
