Currie the Tennessee AD and the Chancellor Beverly Davenport's heads could roll over this

If the AD didn't understand the culture of the school and the state enough to understand the reaction, or if he didn't discuss this with boosters enough to understand the reaction and have their backing, then there is no way that the fans in general and boosters in particular are going to back him in the future.

I think he believed things would be the same as they were when he was at Kansas State.

Football isn't that simple. Cut is a dang good coach, and there are very few guys out there that could do what he's done at Duke.
