Thanks! I've reposted this about 100 times or so since you put it up. Very useful.

Are my posts not being seen on this thread? Even the stupidest of my posts at least get a remark on all the other threads, and from some of you on this one. But I have made some what I thought were pertinent posts on this thread over the past couple of days, and nothing. If they are not worth making a comment on, fine. But it just seems odd to me.

Almost all scientific research doesn't pay off in "a positive outcome for our nation or any business or cause". That's why we need to subsidize it, usually, given the scope of research projects today, through governments. How many "positive outcomes" have resulted from, say, Einstein's explanation of Brownian movement? But it solves a long standing problem in physics and partially confirms molecular theories of the structure of matter; not unimportant findings. I think you are confounding science with engineering. Science tries to come up with theories about how things work; engineering takes those theories and plays around with their limits to attempt to make artifacts that we find useful. Sometimes scientists end up doing engineering projects - Los Alamos comes to mind for most of us - but that usually isn't the case. They leave it to the engineers to figure out how or, even, if their theories will be useful. Just as well. A scientists idea of an engineering project is to do more research.

Here's an overview of Arrow's contributions:

A whole lot of public policy (cap and trade schemes, for instance) are wrapped up in his thought. And, yes, I think some of the maths are incomprehensible too.
We appear to have 2 completely different assessments of the value of this man’s life’s work. I would have preferred him to take the route of Einstein and have something more to show than a bunch of academic theories. You believe there was great value to what he did. I’m sure he inspired someone to do something worthwhile, so I’ll cease debating the merits of his accomplishments. It’s clearly more of a personal preference than anything else.

On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence announced that the Trump administration was able to get major insurance companies to agree to waive copays on coronavirus testing. The health insurance companies that attended the meeting, and are seemingly onboard with waiving such copays, include UnitedHealth Group, Anthem, Cigna, Humana, Aetna and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. I got that info in an email from some conservative site that for some reasons sends me stuff regularly. Funny that I have not heard that from any of the MSM.

They try to never report anything positive about President Trump

It's been moved to May 5th....

Mexicans finally relented to building that wall so they can keep coronavirus infected Americans out of Mexico. Cinco De Mayo is no longer needed...

I've wondered same but generally there's such an overwhelming amount of articles/ info out there (mostly crap) so there's no way to keep up. Another blog i follow is running around 2000 posts per day. I can't get to 10% of that.
