But we don't reload every year. We have to rebuild!
All of what you postulate may be true. Or it may not be true. Nobody saw 11 wins last year, if you recall. We went into the season with, among other things, a QB who had promise but did not set the world ablaze sharing time in '13, a question mark at Bback, and questions on defense. All the times you point out are going to be tough, whether they are on the road or at home. That's the schedule. (And as long as FSU is hunting for a QB, they are rebuilding, because Winston was FSU in '13.) My eyes are wide open to the possibilities, either way. Consider our '14 season had the defense been just one TD better. Just one. I think it will be this season, and I am not even penciling in Hunt-Days, and don't think the Stanford transfer would help a lot even if he came. We'll see what happens starting with Alcorn State. Onward and upward.Clemson on the road is going to be rough, UGA at home will tough, Miami on the road will be tough, ND on the road will be tough, FSU doesn't rebuild they reload. Some of you guys need to open your eyes and face reality. I'm not saying this season is going to be a disaster. We will play some very good games with the big boys I'm sure, but I don't see us winning 11+ games again. 7-9 wins this season will be a okay season for me. I'm predicting that because of my 2 main reason from my original
Post.
That's why I said give them a chance. Our recruiting has been a lot better so that should help to reload I'm not saying it's going to happen but I'm saying let them prove they can like I said no one can say they will do good bad or average untill the questions we have about the team are answered it just crazy to even out an amount of wins or anything with the questions we have thats why I have said it can go either wayBut we don't reload every year. We have to rebuild!
I remember last year before the season started when everyone was saying that about Virginia Tech.Im just looking foward to the ND game. That will be my gauge for how good this team is.

Agree. There is a fine line between realism and pessimism. Every year is different and the opponents we thought would be hard before the season started sometimes are not and the opponents we thought would be easy...... you know the drill.Reality is that you can have a great QB (check), improved defense (check) and a brilliant scheme (check) and there are still no guarantees. Could lose all 5 of those games. Could win em all by an avg of 2 touchdowns. The schedule could look easier or maybe even harder once the season starts. Every year is a new deal.
My issue is with predicting outright that they won't win 10+ games. The team has too many good things going for it to write them out of the conference race in April.
I think Clemson was the real thing right up until their QB went down. I was looking forward to seeing how that game would play out between the two QBs. You're probably right about Duke, though lord knows I still think Cutcliffe was recruiting when he got in Johnson's boat with his gratuitous Johnson and Thomas comment and think we revisited Kansas that Saturday. It's no more unrealistic to predict 10-11 wins than it is 7-8. And that is from a real skeptic.Agree. There is a fine line between realism and pessimism. Every year is different and the opponents we thought would be hard before the season started sometimes are not and the opponents we thought would be easy...... you know the drill.
Just going by how the games played out last year, one could say we overestimated Virginia Tech and Clemson and we underestimated Georgia Southern and Duke. It is not until we are in the thick of the season that we begin to get real perspective on the schedule.
I look at it as we will be better that our defense over the second half of the season. A good bit better. I wonder what Pitts defense would have looked like without Donaldson two years ago? Days is a very gifted athlete who has found his position. Whitehead will be a great addition along with the maturity of other players. We loved Freeman as a freshman but if he were in the 15 class he would possibly red shirt with Simmons and Whitehead in front of him. Could go on but no reason to write a book as to why I am so excited about the prospects of the D.If we are as good or better than last year, I will be absolutely shocked. Some people think we will just be able to replace Smelter/Waller and Days/Laskey with the same production. Those guys were incredible.
We will basically have the same defense as last season with, hopefully, the addition of JHD. People think were gonna make this huge transformation on D. We were pretty terrible on defense last year, with the exception of a handful of guys making key plays throughout the year. If JHD is the real deal, that should turn our defense from bad to slightly below average. Our DL is still thin as hell and we can't afford one injury. Slightly below average defense would work for me if we had the same production of our offense from last year.
The good news is we still have Justin Thomas, 4 starters on the OL and PJ calling plays. If we won 8 games and a bowl game, I will be extremely happy.
It doesn't but after the ND game we will know so much more about this team.I don't mind the pessimism, I just want to hear more on why this schedule is "brutal" other than it's ND, FSU, Clemson yadayada... Until then pen me in for 10+ wins
Also year , how can the 3rd game determine the outcome on the season? I wonder if Ohio St. thought the same about VT
I just recently spoke to a friend of mine who is a Fsu fan and he believes they we'll lose to us this year untill until our team doesn't have a 10+ win season I'm going to believe every year they will win 10 games untill they prove me wrong and yes I am aware this is the first in a while so from now on they should get the benefit of the doubt
You're exactly right! I thinkkI just recently spoke to a friend of mine who is a Fsu fan and he believes they we'll lose to us this year untill until our team doesn't have a 10+ win season I'm going to believe every year they will win 10 games untill they prove me wrong and yes I am aware this is the first in a while so from now on they should get the benefit of the doubt
I understand what you are saying but what I'm saying is I believe we have the talent there are just a lot of questions and the reason our d was so bad was d line, and we have the ability to be very good on the d line you forget freeman has put on a ton of weight so he should be better plus hunt-days should be way better than anyone else on the line from last year and we have whitehead now as well as kallon is stepping up from what they say and Simmons stepped up the last part of last year from our db perspective we are good and lb all I'm saying is there are questions but don't count out the gyms before its all said and done cpj already said our d looks way better so why would that not tranition into the regular season? I'm not saying we will have the same kind of year as last but untill we start losing in giving the team the benefit
