CGC on 680 this AM

I agree 137. If we make a coaching change my expectation is we are going to be hiring either a P5 coordinator or a G5 HC. Maybe we go outside the box and hire an NFL asst - but regardless I don't expect us to hire a 'name'.

In the end it is about getting the right guy that is the right fit.

First i'll continue to hope that CGC turns it around this season - that would be a best case scenario from our current standpoint (and I don't want to see any coach at GT 'fail'), but if not and he has to be replaced we will definitely not be in a position of strength.

How attractive you are as a job also has a significant role in who will be interested. Wasn't alot of interest last time around for GT, I doubt that has changed for the better. You can throw all sorts of money around, you still have to find someone to take it.

I'm not interested at this point in taking every opportunity to bash CGC. He is our coach this season and like every other year I will root hard for the players and coaches to do well. If it doesn't work out, then i'll think about that toward the end of next season (I have little belief he will be let go before the fully guaranteed contract expired after the season).

I'm kind of with you on that. I think there's a chance that the talent we added this year gets much better, and really I think Devoe and Usher regressed this year (or the offense did with them leading it). I'm ready to see a team without the two of them. We need to develop front court strength quickly.

Don't want too slide to far off the football thread, but IMO Devoe and Usher are no longer benefitting from having Alverado and Wright on the floor with them, which puts better defenders on them.

Actually, with the roster almost completely churned from the 3O, it should be a bit more desirable for better coaches, knowing their rebuild isn't completely from scratch.

I would not argue your point that GC will be retained until his contract is up. If, however they only win 4-5 games this season I believe Tstan would have no other option than to replace him.

i would argue the job is far more appealing now than it was. the bare cupboard at least got restocked. you have sims, pyron and gibson who are all solid QBs with multiple years of eligibility and there’s at least a lot of potential littered around on the roster. from a football perspective there’s at least a foundation to build from.

now as far as administrative support, fanbase and money, i can understand there’s probably better options.

you also get the benefit of not being named collins which i think offers major appeal to many gtswarm users

I think this is in reference to finding a new coach. There are very few who understand the 3O and most were on one of PJ's staff as one time. So maybe a pool of 10 or less. There are a lot more who run some other type of offense (flex, RPO, etc.). I am not debating which is the better offense for GT but do want to point out there are many more coaches to consider who do not run the 3O.
