I've learned to accept the blue, because what else can you do? But the fact is that if we would just stick to white and gold, we would be the only major college team (and maybe the only one, period) that had that particular color combination. The only one.

Yep, so true. I have always envisioned a GT uni based along the lines of a Texas uni, because bama crimson, psu blue are too easy to contrast.

That was one reason I had very, unfounded it seems, high hopes for a new “Tech Gold” from Adidas. Did not happen.

I always wanted us to get a proper contrasting Gold vs White and have all our teams wear that scheme thru one school year.

Never happened and doesn’t seem as if a uni supplier will ever put in the work to make it happen.

So Blue it is.

This might be slightly off topic, but I am starting to think think GT really pooped the bed with the color they selected as "Tech Gold".

1. Adidas has been unable to consistently repicate the official color across different parts of uniforms (helmets, pants, etc,) which I thought was a primary concern of the rebrand.

2. The color shade selected for "Tech Gold" isnt a strong enough contrast from white, so it is easily washed out and hard to see at any distance. Watching the GT/UGA bball game on TV, it looks like GT is wearing solid white unis, unless the camera zooms in for a free throw or shows a replay.

3. On TV, the basketball court looks more green than gold. Did GT consider how "Tech Gold" would look on TV before they selected the color shade. I would hope so, since that's where the majority of people will "view" the programs.

4. Even watching the bball game, the gold on the court, the gold on the uniforms, and the gold outlining the GT on the bottom of the video board are all different color shades.

Personally, I think GT should have selected a darker shade of gold because it's easier to see. Branding wise, you can't promote it if you can't see it!

So, until GT finally gets it together regarding the gold/white color combo, show me the blue unis!!!

At least those uniforms aren't as bad as Memphis' uniforms they're wearing in the Birmingham Bowl. Memphis is wearing white helmets, white jerseys with gray numbers and gray pants:vomit:

I thought Adidas played an instrumental part in choosing the "new gold." If they did, then why aren't they using it?

We all know what opinions are like, and everyone has one. The old men yelling at clouds in this thread, though, is tiresome and overdone at best. We get it. You don’t like blue. Regardless, we are wearing blue. Watch or don’t watch, but blue it is. THWg.

Exactly, it’s happening- again and again from now on, no matter what those 3 angry old boomers think, write, say, or do about it. The players love it, thats all that matters.

I hope it is not just me....but NO! NO! NO! If I can't turn on the TV and recognize the uniform at first glance, it is just wrong. I flipped on the TV a while back on saw blue britches with a white jersey...thought I had the wrong channel and was watching a Navy game. Now this?? What the hell? I would be just as appalled with an all gold uniform. I guess I am just old fashioned (or just old), but give me gold pants and a white jersey, or a gold/blue jersey with white britches.

To be honest, I question whether Adidas actually created a special color gold for us. If they had, in my opinion, it would have been darker. I think what is being billed as Tech Gold is actually a “sand” color they already produced.

I totally agree if they were targeting the gold on the ‘reck, it would have been darker & easier to differentiate on white unis.

I have a different take on the all-blue unis. I like them, but I don’t like them for GT. We are white & gold. My opinion of course, but there are some inconvenient truths that support this opinion.

So if the seniors like pink uniforms then you'd love that? Makes no sense
IMHO, this argument makes no sense.
1) Navy blue is a GT color (yeah, yeah, I know-there’s the argument it’s a secondary color), but pink is not.
2) No one asked the players to vote yes or no on pink. The players did vote for the uniforms that are being worn.
3) If pink was offered as an option, I’m 99% sure the players would have voted NO, not YES like the did for the navy (which is, again, a GT color).
4) During the days of the black watch, did anyone argue, “But what if the team wanted to be known as the pink watch?!?! Makes no sense.” ?

I think I’ve seen a couple of posts regarding the need for a dark color.

I am all about White & Gold, but a darker secondary color to go along with our primaries is absolutely necessary from a design standpoint. Almost every school that is not Tech has a dominant color to go with white or gold. While there is contrast between white and gold, there are other factors at play with regard to color and how we see it (for which I am not qualified to speak) that drive the need for us to have a dark, dominant color like blue as part of our palette.

That said, it’s obvious that adidas would use that color for an alternate, dark uniform look...especially since it was part of a past combination at Tech. Keyword is alternate. We wore white tops with either white or gold pants for most of our games.

Besides...”history” and “tradition” aside, they look really good. That and using a color in our palette is way better than black for black’s sake or grey for grey’s sake. Just sayin.

You’d have thought the Addidas people would have been experts at uniform colors. They either hired the folks at Russell away from them and all we really got was a new logo, hired a bunch of college interns to work under a “failed upwards” manager that was pissing everyone else off in his old division or outsourced the work to some dudes in Sri Lanka. Take your pick.

I really wonder why we didn't just use Buzz gold everywhere and call it a day!

These posts literally mean NOTHING! These teams barely wear those uniforms. We wear blue all the time. You seem to just like to get people mad over this subject. You're a troll
We have worn navy 3 times this year in 13 games. That is not all the time. It isn't even a quarter of the time.

Black Watch had nothing to do with a TEAM uni. It was basically a handful of guys, all D players, that had a helmet stripe and a different color GT logo on the helmet. Only had an impact, on a limited basis, for one season.

Was actually the antithesis of a TEAM uni.
