If Wright is going to be taking Lammers role next year in the offense, I would rather have Wright start and get the experience now. Plus with those guys he could concentrate on getting the D and rebounding and also getting used to the offensive flow.

Wow, didn't see game but SCARY that we AT HOME played so badly .Why WORST than ucla game ? ONLY reason we won was their TERRIBLE FT shooting (40%). For curiosity why can't we find a 3pt specialist. The long shooting is getting ugly (and might not be good even with Josh and TJ back).

I didn't quite get the words you wanted to emphasize. Maybe bold them too? ;)

I like Wright's long term potential alot better, but right now, especially once Tad and Josh are back i'd have AD in the starting lineup.
Wright shows mad potential, but through 2 games that count he is 2-13 from the field and 0-0 from the line. Both his made shots were easy buckets off passes from teammates.
interesting both Wright and AD have 3 assists, though AD has 5 TO compared to just 2 for Wright.

As mentioned above if you have Jose, Josh, Ben and one of Alston or Tad on the floor you have scorers, at that point I need someone that is likely going to rebound, defend and make fewer mistakes. That is AD right now, but i could see Wright passing him at some point. Assuming normal development i expect Wright we be flat out ahead of AD next season and maybe before the end of this season.

Based on what i see so far at the end of the game if I am trying to protect a lead and I have my full lineup available I think I would have Jose, Brandon, Josh, AD and Lammers on the floor.
I already know Jose, Brandon, Josh and Ben are all good FT shooters and AD looks to be as well. I'd have Brandon over Tad simply due to FT shooting. Both have sort of similar games offensively and frankly Brandon is better than Tad at being able to draw contact and fouls.

Red, Dead on assessment as usual. For AD to play big minutes, there needs to be 4 scoring threats on the court with him, He does play defense and rebound much better than the freshman at this point, and does not make as many mistakes - but we can't expect him to score - credit to him for knocking down the FT yestersday as I bet all of us that were there feared the worst when he got fouled at the end.
Wright will eventually pass him on both ends for the 4 spot - he has huge upside - but had not adjusted yet. Agree with you on Moore's lack of improvement (first two games) as a dissapointment -and needing to make FT and layups - can live with him not being 3 point threat, but based on first two games he will be playing no more than 1 minutes a game once everyone is back ... and could not have much of a role next year with the recruits and Phillips. Alston in there at end instead of Tadric if we are ahead looks solid based on what we have see nso far- he can really shoot FT. Not sure how Alston's game will translate once in ACC ... do not see him getting to double figures much there - but mainly the first man in on wing unless Hayward really develops quickly (10-15 minutes most nights) and he is miles ahead of Hayward at this stage (not a surprise).

Right now, Cole and Hayward are liabilities on defense - not unusual for freshman, but both need to learn to play D with their feet and not arms/body. Still see lots of potential in both and by next year could both be playing bigger minutes.

Jose is going to be a good one - just needs to get his outside shot more consistent .. others were talking comparisons (to Ohio State player) ... he reminds me of Perentes from UVA .... does not look that impressive but really can impact a game. I know he will make some silly plays - but if he learns to value the ball, keep it simple, and gets more consistent from outside we really have something.

Well, get ready for it. The staff has Weight above AD. If the guys hadn’t of gone swimming, AD wouldn’t have been starting. Wright will be at the 4. He has way more potential and can currently do more that AD.

I understand that, and that is fine. I would also agree that Wright can do more than AD can.
I would also argue that right now AD better understands the offense and defense and more importantly, understands what he can and cannot do.
Wright is trying to do too much and that can potentially hurt the team more.

In two weeks, 2 months, Wright might be clearly ahead of AD - that would not surprise me- actually I would hope it would be the case. But if you asked me who the better player is right now, Nov 20th - i'd say AD and that is because he is going to do less to hurt you. Wright clearly has more potential, but that is different than being the better player. Right now AD's EPI rating is about twice that of Wright's.

It is awfully fun though seeing the potential that Moses flashes in every game.

I can agree with this. I would add that Wright was moved from the 4 to the 3 due to the suspensions. He was working pretty much exclusively at the 4 since practice started. Wright will give you a better offensive showing than AD. (Don’t worry, it’s coming.) AD will be better at defense switches and not over rotating in the zone due to Wright just learning the defenses. Once Tad and Josh return look for a lineup of Jose, Tadric, Josh, Moses, & Ben. That lineup will give you the best bet for offensive and defensive production.

I am beginning to recall the thin gold line that Cremins played with. What was it....6 guys taking the lion share of minutes? Maybe that will have to be our strategy this year.....

CJP used a pretty short bench last year, so I expect the same this year. Jose, Tadric/Alston/Josh O mix, AD/Mose and Ben with a little Syl to spell Ben and a little Moore to spell Jose.

Can we use someone other than a Puke guy? I like the Aaron Craft comparison.

After two games this is my impression: in the first 36 minutes, when he takes a shot, especially a 3, I am not all that confident. In the last 4 minutes, I always think it’s going in.

He’s a killer, and I love that.

Duke hate aside, if someone told me GT could potentially have a Bobby Hurley type PG, I'd take that every year, sit back, and watch the wins pile up. Just a hard nosed, scrapper type PG that after a game, you look at the box score and become amazed at how many ways he impacts a game.

I never liked Hurley as a Duke player, but you have to admire the man. He grew up in New Jersey and went to a small Catholic high school that did not have a gym, but became the best Duke point guard ever. When he was injured in the traffic accident it did not appear likely he would survive, let alone play again. I remember a story of his rehab (that played around here) where he finished a 2-hour preseason scrimmage and went to the weight room, climbed on the StairMaster at its hardest setting, and climbed for 45 minutes. If Jose has this in him we have a winner.
