It’s strange to me too. I wish someone could explain why the Braves budgeted approx. 19m. to the Bullpen(which has averaged 8 players of your 25 man roster). That’s 1/3 of your active MLB Team, yet the other 2/3 are being paid roughly 112m.
Further complicating the rationale is Atlanta forked out 15m. of that on Vizcaino (traded, injured)and O’Day(hasn’t pitched at all). So they only had 4m. left for 1/3 of the actual roster. Probably still paying Bruce Sutter or ?, although that’s another story not included. I’ve heard the G.M, say, it’s the most unpredictable part of the team. To me, it seems undervalued. They seem to want to keep their relievers at 550 thousand per year, each. A front line closer could cost 20 times that average or more on average.
