Ok... looking ahead to 4 game series (Nats @ Braves 7/18-7/21). Nats are playing really well (26-10 since around Memorial Day). Braves still hold an impressive 6 game lead in division now. What do you guys think gap will be at start if that next series in 2 weeks. Here are schedules for both teams between now & then:
Braves
3x Miami
All Star Break
3x @San Diego
3x @ Milwaukee
[Braves travel to SD & back without a day off before meeting Nationals]
Nationals
3x Kansas City
All Star Break
3x @Philadelphia
2x @Baltimore
[Nats have day off between Philly & Baltimore]
My stab (it's baseball...so no way to really know)
Braves go 5-4
Nats go 5-3
So... Nats enter that HUGE road Braves series 5.5 behind.
I guess I just expect these teams to cool off a bit... I do think the NL EAST is now between these 2 teams with Braves in a great position to win it. 6 games is a lot to make up when trying to catch one of the best teams in baseball. The fact the Nationals are still 6 games out after posting a .722 winning percentage over last 1.5 months says it all.
