The 75-52 1st place in the NL East Atlanta Braves win 5-1 over the 45-79 5th place in the NL East Miami Marlins. The winning pitcher for the Braves is 4-5 Dallas Keuchel and the losing pitcher for the Marlins is 1-1 Tyler Kinley. Ozzie never hit 8th. He’s hit 6th, 7th and 2nd. We’ve had Flowers down there, Riley when he slumped, Inciarte.
I can’t remember any teams with an 8th hitter over .250, unless they had their pitcher there.
This is just false. Ozzie definitely hit 8th at points during the season, I’ve provided proof. There was a time when Ozzie was hitting 8th regularly and the big graphic they put on the screen every night was how each spot 1-8 in the lineup had an OPS over .850, which ranked top 3 in the league for each particular spot.

You don’t put good hitters in the eighth spot. First 6 spots are prime. The goal on offense is to get back to the top of the order, take pitches, work the count. At times good defenders are hidden down there. Ozzie has had a slump or two this year, because every hitter goes through that. He’s hit 2nd and 6th for the majority of his AB’s. I think you know that, but let’s give you credit for finding it. I’m sure Dansby hit 8th once or twice, as we have produced one of the better offenses in the NL.

Here are the splits: majority of starts, 6th or 2nd or 1st in order. He did hit 7th, 8th in some games and even 9th once. I think his speed does add value as a table setter for the pitcher to bunt him over for the top of the order. Ender has hit 8th at times. When those guys are hot, they hit at the top of the order. It’s been proven over time.

I mean, nothing I’ve said has been wrong and I’m not trying to be argumentative or rude. He has hit eighth quite a bit. The only reason he was moved up to 2nd recently was the Swanson injury. They tried to make him leadoff early which didn’t last because that’s were Acuña is best and he was 6th and 7th regularly until Riley came up and raked. When Riley and Kakes were healthy, Ozzie was 8th most of the games. But that’s all beside the point.

I theorized why Ortega might have been put in the eight hole and the exact scenario happened in the fourth inning tonight. He was pitched around with two on and two out so the Marlins could pitch to DK and get out of the inning. The next inning Freddie hit the go ahead HR with two outs. Had Hecevarria been the eight hole hitter in that situation with his .210 batting average, I believe the Marlins would’ve pitched to him and DK would’ve lead off the bottom of fifth which likely means Freddie doesn’t get the chance to bat that inning to hit the HR. Either way we won. Go Braves!

The Nationals fans on WNFF are calling for Dave Martinez to be fired:LOL::ROFLMAO::hilarious:
Sounds like it a good thing this is only forum I participate in....based on your reports of that one.

The ONLY people in DC who didn't panic when Nationals were 12 games under .500 in May were the Nationals themselves. Fans & media were talking about trading off everyone... including Schrezer & Rendon. Martinez never panicked. He [& Rizzo] deserves a TON of credit for what has turned out (for me) to be one of the most fun & entertaining seasons I've experienced as a Nats fan.

It was a very smart thing that the Nationals didn't panic and stood pat. I think this Nationals team is better than the Nationals teams that won the NL East in 2012,2014,2016 and 2017.
