Gausman updated I.L. on July 9th shows 10 Day List for plantar fasciitis.

Folty has made 6 total(all)starts at Gwinnett this season(no splits made for two stints):
2-1, 4.75, 30.1 IP, 494 pitches, 30 H, 18 runs, 16 earned, 1 HR, 1 HBP, 12 BB, 29 k’s., .259 BA for the opposition against him.

I wonder how much it would cost to trade for Cincinnati Reds closer Reisel Iglesias who has 16 saves and a 4.06 ERA? Michael Lorenzen of the Reds is another relief pitcher-closer to look at he's got a 3.72 ERA and 5 saves.

How about Kirby Yates of S.D.? He might be the best available with 30 saves, et al.
Padres might think they are still in the Wild Card race?

We can say hold pat or trade for the best out there, but A.A. will make the decisions. He will probably go out and get another Gausman, in the least. The Tigers have a big lefty. Smoke, let’s see if there is fire?

It’s been past time to try someone else at the closer spot. Here’s an idea, what about trying Newcomb as the closer? He can also go more than 1 inning as well.

I’m with you on Newk.
As long as he “controls” himself.
If you are using him more than 1 inning, who becomes the alternate closer?
Minter, Webb, Swarzak?

I still think pitching is our weak link. My stick-with guys: Soroka, Keuchel and Fried for starters. Newk., Webb, Swarzak, Tomlin, Touki, FNS and possibly Minter(if?)

With the deadline for players drafted in the 2019 MLB Draft now over as of Friday evening, its a time to take a final look at the players who did and did not sign with the Atlanta Braves out of the 41 selections this year.

The Braves ended up signing 36 of those 41 picks including all of their top 26 picks and 34 of their first 35 picks.

I’d try Webb or Swarzy as the 2nd guy. I just think Newcomb, who has been pitching well, is sorta in no man’s land right now. He’s not a starter but he’s not a guy we are really using regularly out of the pen either. It would be nice if we could plug one of the pitching holes we have (need for another starter and closer) without going to the trade market for it.
