Didn’t the Minnesota Vikings play in your stadium while they were fixing or rebuilding the Metrodome? The best game I ever saw (not in person) was played in the Metrodome. 1998 NFC Championship game between the 15-1 Vikings and the 14-2 Falcons. Falcons pulled a huge upset.
Yeah, for 2-3 seasons. Had a cool Vikings-Bears outdoor game in a snowy November... and I KNEW someone would bring up that Vikings/Falcons game. No worries, I don't take offense to it. Poor Gary Anderson, though. Hadn't missed a kick the entire season, then did at the most inopportune time.

I have been waiting for a comment from you and Ryans. I think I speak for most Tech fans in the south. Hopefully, you two are not the only ones up north, and y'all can fill a few seats for us that can't come.
There are about 300-400 alumni in the Metro Detroit area......hopefully most will make it.
There are also alumni clubs in Cleveland and I think Columbus......plus Chicago is only a few hours away......hopefully there will be a showing.

Field hockey? Kidding, I know on ice. Love the game. Was in Atlanta just out of GT when the Flames first came into the NHL. Long ago. Fans cheered the first time they iced the puck. Hilarious but they soon learned.
I remember them having Mel Tillis (I think) sing after one of the games to try and get people to attend.

How physical is your DL?? Georgia Tech OL is pretty physical, we had our center out during the first 6 games (2-4) But he played the last 6 (5-1)...
I feel like both schools have had a tale of two faces this season. To be honest, our defensive line has been poor, but they have stepped up as of late. As I mentioned earlier, the DC was fired prior to 3 games ago and the result has been night & day different. Still, not sure how the Gophers will handle a triple option, regardless of the usual good run-D.

As for offensive lineman, I think we tote the largest in the nation. Feast your eyes on this guy:

Not going to link videos and bore you, but this guy reminds me of a "small" William "the refrigerator" Perry. He made Ohio State's D-man look like a ragdoll.

Man, yeah I remember Gary. I really did feel bad for him. I remember somebody on the radio said that the Vikings would lose that game because of the Tampa Bay curse. I think the curse is that no team who had lost to TB during the regular season had ever gone to the Super Bowl. Minnesota’s only loss that year was to the Bucs, IIRC.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game becomes a shootout. At the same time, the Gophers held Ohio State to 92 total yards rushing in Columbus before the DC change, and Wisconsin's RB Taylor (1989 yards rushing for the year, ~170/g) was held to 120 in Madison last week in our route. Run "D" is our strength, though I'm not sure how we will fare against the triple option.

The DC was fired after the Illinois game. That was after game 9. Versus Purdue (who smoked Ohio State), N'western (Big Ten West Champs), and Wisconsin (Big Ten Pre-Season Champ favorite), we held them to 10, 14, 15, respectively.

As for the Maryland game, a Minnesota player died a few days before the game, and it definitely showed. Was also the first road game and Big Ten game. Not trying to make excuses, but it was clear the team was not "there". To be fair as well, Maryland gives Minnesota fits the way we give Penn State fits. Sometimes it's about match-ups.

It sounds like our teams have some similarities. A chance that either “good Tech”, “bad Tech”, “good Minnesota”, or “bad Minnesota” could show up on the 26th.

So basically it might be a very tight game...or a blowout for either team. I just hope the players get good swag and have fun.

Welcome! I live in Michigan and have been here a while. Your PJ Fleck comment was dead on! I thought he was very clownish while at WMU. Hope to see a good turn out from both sides in Detroit! Oh, I hate the **** out of that school in Ann Arbor too!!! I’ll try to swing through there on my way to the game and steal the jug for you if I can. Lol
Not sure how Minnesota travels, but Maybe 2K from Atlanta travel... the ACC dorked this up... But it appears that there is quite a big GT Alumni Network in the area that may show up... so lets say another 2K from those show up... And 1K for CPJ last game... That is 5K total for this game! I’m with you on this Fletch. I think we have a better turn out than expected. Nothing great but given the location and timing of the game I think this ends up being better than we all first thought.
