I don't think it is limited to political stories. Tech stories, athletics stories, celebrity death/breakup/scandal stories, etc. It isn't a problem with "political" news media. It is a problem caused by the immediacy of things like Twitter. Not isolated to any particular subject, just in general quick (even inaccurate) small posts get a lot more attention than long form news articles.

Ole Miss proved to not be nearly as good as we made them look in September, and we proved to not be nearly as bad as everyone else made us look in September. If we would’ve played Ole Miss instead of Georgia on Saturday I think we win the game. Ole Miss doesn’t scare me one bit. If we can’t beat, or even compete against Ole Miss, then we might as well shut our program down. Seriously, if we’re scared to play Ole Miss then we’re so far away from where we want to be I don’t know if we’ll ever get back there.
