I think beating uga regularly, a tall order, would do wonders for our attendance. I think a large portion of alums can't stand getting beat by the mutts, regularly, and pretend to not care about football because of this.

I was friggin amazed in 90 at how many fans suddenly started showing up in public half way through and following that season. Only to see them quickly disappear after losing bad to Penn St. in the first game of 91. Many Tech fans have an inferiority complex about football they can't abide. That's been my observation of many anyway.

I just think that it wold also occasionally yield a turnover or two to offset that. It is all just my opinion and preference, but I do think it is a lack of speed that causes this.

We might see more press coverage against Pitt, who has far less speed. Actually, I will be curious to watch for this.

Generally agree. Our lack of DB speed is an issue. On that last Miami TD our DBs got beat bad (CB lost inside position and then was outrun and the S stood there flatfooted with no reaction to the only receiver coming across his face). It was just poor execution by our DBs, and you cannot recover from that with slow feet.

'Bend but don't break" doesn't work either if you do not execute.

I also believe that with the triple option timing and getting the little things down pat become more apparent as the season goes on. Miami is good with the usual compliment of very fine athletes but they are not in the same category as Clemson. We will see what they do against FSU.

What difference does that make? Miami & Clemsonhave already beaten us, and thankfully we don't play FSU. Watch for Pitt to man handle us this weekend. BTW, Tech is the homecoming team for Pitt.

hopefully it goes the way it did last time they scheduled us for homecoming... in 2014. Talk about a rough homecoming for them.

I know what you mean. I want no optimism around my house either, and it's an even better thing that we didn't play FSU last year, when it actually had a team. Now, that would have been a massacre.

If we were beating UGA "regularly", we'd probably be good enough to be winning 9-10 games a season, too, which would help.

True. I admit, I am jealous when I attend a game in Knoxville or Tuscaloosa and see 105,000 screaming fans. But those schools are STATE schools. They truly do represent the state.

When the Birmingham Americans of the old USFL formed, Bear Bryant said "good luck". Many states identify by the state school even if you didn't go there. It's just the way it is.

Auburn will always suffer by comparison to Alabama.
Tech will always suffer by comparison to Georgie.
Vanderbilt will always suffer by comparison to Tennessee.

Can Tech sell out a 55,000 seat stadium. Yes. Do they want to? No. I have no idea why they won't. But ... I will say this ... the Game Day experience today is vastly better than 30 years ago. It is fun to go to the game and if I could do one thing .... it would be be move all the games to night games. It is just great.

I am with Super.... I finally watched the game. First half we looked sluggish. When the tempo sped up, the blocking seemed to got better. I would like to see maybe a mixture of how the "O" is ran, just to see, if anything else. Yeah, it was one game. But, hey if it worked. Why not give it another shot? Pitt may be a game we'll have to do it. They are not the most stout on "D", but the "O" can rack up some yardage and points. It's a test for our "D" for sure. I don't see us limiting them under 20. I am still saying it's like a 41-28 type score. Depending on our "O" will determine who gets the 41. If we are on point, I see us scoring a good many points. If the "O" is flat.. I expect them to rack the points on us.

A recipe for disaster. I just don't see a sustainable situation for Georgia Tech as an up tempo competitor. Crushing defense plus a fast strike offense. That's Tech football. Or should be. In my soon to be Alzheimer's opinion.
