NC State down a weekend starter

Thoughts on IF quick (relative) start to season may contribute to pitching injuries in college baseball? Spring practice begins in January... games kick off in mid-Feb.

I'm pretty sure the NCAA has (for a few years now) been looking at sliding start of season to the right... season would run past end of spring classes.

I can read the headlines now- Unrecruited walk on forced into the ncst rotation pitches like Cy Young against GT in his first start since Little League 6 years earlier.
You lost me with that one. We rarely have problems hitting against anyone. We often are able to knock a team's #1 starter out by the third inning. Now if you said something about an unknown position player hitting three homers and knocking in 8 RBI's in his first ever start then I could agree with that logic.

Maybe it’s just me but it seems whenever someone’s star gets hurt, etc some no-name replacement marches in and has the game of his life. They usually disappear right after that never to be heard from again.

I understood what you meant. I think one of those guys is now on our roster.

Mason Patel. 2021... Ga St over GT 10-1 in Atlanta.

Busse is #57 starting pitcher by D1 and Cam Hill is #123. No "top" GT relief pitchers by D1.

Anyway, here's my guess for our record this year. 12-15 ACC regular season but winning season at 31-21. That's because I guess we'll go 19-6 OOC. I've read the D1 reviews and other ACC teams have improved with the portal too with the exception of Miami. (I bumped up our wins versus NC State and UNC with their injuries.) So we'll see. We have to prove it on the field; ad nauseum we'll go as far as our pitching takes us.

I have us down as over achieving vs the reports. I think pitching will be better than we are being credited for and both offense and defense will be above par. I think we end up getting beat up later with the weak OOC schedule. The OOC schedule will pad our stats and give us high hopes while at the same time not setting us up to fight adversity when needed.

Who wants to translate the CDH/Coachspeak specific to his C.Hill comments?

"...great to see him back out there" ??

Possible I've missed something... was he hurt coming out of summer into fall. I'm too lazy to research if he pitched in the fall scrimmages.

I can't hear the questions. As to coach speak, Hall has had 36 years to perfect it. I'm aspiring to say as little and sound as good at work and here.

Hill relieved in one of the fall ball games so I don't know and never heard about Hill being hurt. I think there was just speculation that he was hurt when he didn't start this weekend. He threw 24 pitches in 2.0 yesterday so could be ready to relieve on Tuesday if needed.

Is college ball like I see with most AAA teams i see in Durham where relief starts about 5th inning and late relief is usually a fastball (95+) guy. Often see a different reliever every inning after starter.
