That was when Michigan was cheating and everyone knew they were cheating. TCU used it to their advantage by using their regular signals that Michigan had illegally scouted but send in other plays using hidden signals. They burned Michigan several times on their way to a close upset win.
It was their only loss in a 28-1 span over two years so whatever “everyone” knew it clearly took a pretty good team and game to execute against it.

Sucks for TCU that they won’t get credit for it.

Looks to me like where the ACC schools in the playoffs today are noticeably weaker than their opponents is the trenches. SMU QB spent the day running for his life, Clemson not as much so but still there is a difference. The Clemson QB has always had something missing I've thought. not quite sure what it is.

I guess the ACC just had a down year. There was no dominant team and the two who made the playoffs are proving to be an embarrassment. It has been a long time since I've seen a Clemson defensive line so average. fSU stunk it up. Miami might have made some noise but couldn't beat Syracuse on the road.

12 teams is too many if you want to avoid games like these. Again, just go with 8 P4 teams, take the top 2 in each conference with the CCG being the first round, let the G5 have their own playoff.

Easy peasy.
Do we have to go through the history of BCS and CFP blowouts? It happened with 2 teams, it happened with 4 teams, blowouts happened in the championship game between “the two best teams”. Blowouts happen in sports. Bigger blowouts than we’ve seen so far.

What 12 teams means is that the odds of having a good game increase.

You increase odds by adding worse teams? Interesting.
