Would the CFP TV audience be different if SMU is playing PSU than if uga is playing Oregon? I wonder if the difference matters to the CFP or ESPN. The ads are already sold and the contract for the rights is locked in. I will watch either way.We already know it’s not about who deserves to be there, it’s about what makes great TV.
I don't even see Colorado. I feel like they're the same team as Miami, but with the probable Heisman winner. Also, FWIW, betting market updates on pricing…
The bets are ‘to make CFP’
Alabama is priced at 50/50 (essentially the pricing on both yes and no is the same). 50% chance they make the playoffs.
Miami pays 10-1 for yes. This is priced that their odds to make the playoffs are around 7%. (Context, you’d have to bet $2,500 on ‘no’ to win $100 if they don’t make the playoffs. And bet $9.62 on yes to win $100 if they make the playoffs).
Ole Miss is priced as it ain’t gonna happen.
SMU is priced around 75% chance they make the playoffs.
USCe is priced around 20% chance they make the playoffs.
Conclusion, if you follow the money, Bama is favored over USCe from the SEC. And Miami is pretty much dead.
The Texas Coach handled it well when his players started to Plant a Flag at A&M. He and his staff ran to where the players were and got them off the center of the field! Good job by him unlike what the Michigan and NCT Coaches did!this is emblematic of the issues letting the kids “celebrate” after a play is going to being. I saw a ton of personal fouls called because fighting broke out when a player stepped over someone, stood over them, or taunted. They need to reel this back in.
I have no problem with letting the kids celebrate, but when it becomes a direct expression of domination against the opponent instead of a celebration of their jubilation and exuberance, that needs to be a penalty.
It is low class to “Flag Plant” on an opposing teams logo and is an invitation to a fight.I don't like the visiting team doing the flag planting thing. It's not necessary. It crosses the "stay classy" & basic sportsmanship line for me.
HOWEVER... the home team simply ignoring it is the way to stop it from happening. The best way to keep the visitors from hurting your feelings over such a gesture is to beat them in the game you just LOST. Picking a fight after getting your butts kicked between the lines (over a silly flag on your field) is weak.
I'm sure it is construed by some as not classy. You're allowed to be fine with it. Plucking a piece of hedge (to me) is not a big deal. I suppose taken to an extreme (tearing out the whole bush)... is vandalism & over the line. How does getting a piece of the hedge fit into this who thing? I have no problem with that, but it could be construed as not classy.
Planting your flag on your opponents logo is 100% an invitation to fight. It’s easy to say, “just walk away” or “you should’ve won the game if you wanted to fight.” But anybody who’s ever played a competitive sport knows emotions are running high, especially in the rivalry games. The flag planters know with absolute certainty that their actions are likely to cause a fight, yet they do it anyway. It’s disrespectful by its nature, and nobody likes to get disrespected. Especially somebody that just poured their blood, sweat, and tears into something, not only for a 60 minute game, but for 4 years of college and 20+ years of their life.It is low class to “Flag Plant” on an opposing teams logo and is an invitation to a fight.
Just walking away is not the answer. The instigator should be the team penalized.
I was happy to see Pepper Spray used at Ohio State on the players to separate them.
Suspect the offending coach for a game. He will get his team under control quickly if that is in place as will all coaches.
There's a reason why taunting is a penalty.
Unfortunately, this behavior is becoming viral and many teams are doing it lately. A significant fine to the team that does it would help mitigate it.
Fines are meaningless. Suspending the offending coach has an impact and forces him to be accountable. Suspending players won’t work the the flag planter could be a 3rd string player. There's a reason why taunting is a penalty.

Why you gotta put it that way. Them's fighting words.....I still tend to believe self-control is a noble character trait.
Indeed, $100k fines to the Michigan and Ohio State programs are a slap on the wrist. That's why I used the term "significant". Suspending a coach might work better though.Fines are meaningless.
