He probably still doesn’t get to it but Heredia has to charge in and lay out completely for that ball even if he misses and the ball rolls to the fence. Ian has a no-no going in the 7th; there should be no ball touch the surface anywhere on the field without bodies flying.
Ian is already at a hundred pitches so the complete game would’ve been tough regardless, but possible.

Pillar just took a fastball straight to the nose. Awful scene. Was obviously sitting off speed and didn’t have time to react to fb that far off target. Blood all over the place.
Only good thing I saw was Pillar was able to pop up eventually and walk off with help. You could tell he was completely coherent and vision was fine. Broken nose/face for sure but at least those will heal for him in time.
Webb feels awful from the looks of it.

Atlanta will call up lefty Tucker Davidson to start Tuesday, giving the rotation an extra day of rest, while the Mets had not determined their starter. New York is considering a bullpen game with Joey Lucchesi, Robert Gsellman and Tommy Hunter mentioned as potential openers.
Davidson is 2-0 in two starts for Triple-A Gwinnett this season, having allowed up one run in 14 innings (0.64 ERA). He has 14 strikeouts in 14 innings.

Ironically, he's been hit on the bill of the helmet with the bases loaded before, and been hit in the jaw in another plate appearance... His face seems to be a magnet for baseballs...

And those were with prior teams, not the Mets...
