Ok, since we are talking colors and unis. Was today’s uni numbers navy or black? I swear it looked black to me.

Adidas continuing to go "all in" on the amount of Navy items. Can't believe I am saying this, but at this point, I am almost as disappointed in them as I was Russell. Russell could not settle on a gold color, but really Adidas hasn't either, and to prevent having to deal with the gold color issue, they are sticking with NAVY.

I really don’t think trouble with the gold is an issue. I think retailers order navy. There’s a catalog with options— and for example, the Fanatics site obviously orders predominantly navy, whereas the bookstore orders more of a mix of gold and navy.

They have to be "available" for them to be able to only order Navy. Like I said, they have replaced my frustration with different golds and yellows with an EXCESS of blue. Oh well. It is what it is. Maybe in the future, our gold items will be collector's items, since they will be very, very rare, as compared to navy items. :)

I think fanatics places larger orders than say the Barnes and Noble bookstore.

But, I do believe if we only order through the Barnes and Noble bookstore you'll see more Gold. The onsite bookstore has heard our complaints. Fanatics is a little more difficult to Express ourselves to.

I'd suggest going forward only purchasing from the onsite bookstore either in person or through their website. Not the fanatics based site.

Yes, that appears to be true, and it looks like the other "non-bookstore" retailers like ****'s and Hibbetts and Kohl's will also be focusing mainly on blue. I just want our brand to be our primary colors (gold and white), and for a lot of people who are not directly associated with the school, they probably don't even know to look at the GT bookstore online.

I guess CGC and/or ADTS have market tested what "new" fans would want, and for some reason, navy is what they want, and it must be part of their goal to attract more new fans???? Or, Adidas knows we are a small market team (compared to factories), and they do what they want to do, no matter what CGC or ADTS says.

I think we are just seeing exactly what sales numbers tell the manufacturer, and what I hear every time I ask manufacturer reps about Tech gear when I order...the “average” person that buys Tech gear prefers navy. Navy sells better (assuming Tech gear even sells...I still hate hearing that). So retailers are always going to order what their numbers say sells the best, and manufacturers are gonna produce that as well. Now we die hard as want more gold and white, as most of us have ties to Tech, and as a natural extension of that, will look to the bookstore first (I always have, at least).

If we want everything to be predominantly gold and white, that story needs to be pushed more, somehow. By fans? By the school? By both? I don’t know. And...the school needs to quit licensing so much navy stuff. They do have a say so in it, so they are obviously ok with it. Then again, if the school is ok with it and pushing it so hard, why aren’t we on board with more navy? There’s another question. I myself don’t mind some navy (fits in more with daily wear and my work “uniform”), but I want all my game day stuff to be predominantly gold/white.

GT just ran a huge survey for which color the fans want and gold was the number 1 choice so it still makes no sense

We are off topic for the thread, but that survey was conducted across people like us here...die hard fans, that I mentioned above. I can tell you, from dealing with/buying from manufacturers reps, that navy blue is the overwhelming choice for the “causal”/“street” fan.

The fact that y’all are arguing about gold items when there are numerous options available is ridiculous

I don’t think anyone is really arguing. Just discussing why Adidas has predominantly gold apparel in the bookstore (for “us”), and predominantly navy in almost all other outlets (casual fans).
