  1. A few more post Georgia thoughts

I've never been impressed with Schottenheimer. He did about as well this year as I expected him to do. Look at the jets from 2006-11 and the Rams from 2012-14. Not much there for the most part. How much talent do you actually need to give the guy to conclude the he could be "good." I don't...
  2. Richt's gone

It may have been in the works, but it's pretty frowned upon to contact coaches to replace ones you currently have before they are fired. I'd especially doubt that they'd reach out to Muschamp about filling an assistant role before they even know who their head coach is.
  3. Richt's gone

This is actually a pretty fair point. Of the top 10 college teams in terms of former players on NFL week 1 2015 rosters, uga was #4. By my count, the only other teams that haven't won championships in that grouping (in the last 10 years) are Clemson, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, and Miami. On...
  4. Richt's gone

lol. One of my mutt fan friends was saying this too. Amazing how within 12 hours of the job opening they've already lined up a head coach AND a defensive coordinator. Like Muschamp could possibly make up his mind that quickly. It may be a good guess, but that's all it is right now.
  5. Richt's gone

It's hard to argue with you when you ground your opinion not in actual numbers, but instead in pure opinion. Looking at the numbers, it's clear that Richt's talent has been good, but his coaching has been about on par. How many active coaches actually have better track records than Richt? I...
  6. Richt's gone

The amazing thing is Richt leaves after posting the best win percentage in school history.
  7. Richt's gone

And what was Bama the decade before Saban? It's a lot easier to find a dud than it is to find a top 10 coach
  8. Richt's gone

I'm sorry but look at his record. Then compare it to every single active coach in the country. There are probably 5, at most, who are inarguably better than Richt in terms of results. I count Saban, Miles, Meyer. Dude loses the best running back in college football and still wins 9. Right...
  9. Scholarship openings.

Now that we've gone to a 4-3, yes - 2 Dts in a class isn't unreasonable, especially since we are still somewhat transitioning out of the 3-4. It's at least no different than us taking 2 ABs, WRs, DEs, OLBs, etc. in a class - we play 2 of each of those positions on the field at any given time.
  10. Couple of observations during a GT-less Saturday

#1 is a bit unfair to me. Memphis has the #80 scoring defense in the country, giving up 28.7 ppg. They gave up 44 to Bowling Green, 46 to Cincy, and 42 to Tulsa. On the other hand, the defenses we've played are much, much better. Duke, despite giving up a billion to UNC, is still hanging...
  11. Ted Roof

To be fair, he got a bit of a pass last year because the offense was so good. We've had so many fewer possessions on defense, it's hard to give our defense a pass when they finally have to deal with what a normal defense handles. I don't think the offense has been as bad as you make it out to...
  12. Scholarship openings.

Not a lot. We weren't anticipating a large class to begin with. I think the only Seniors on scholly were Golden, Milton, Skov, Demond, Byerly, Snoddy, Noble, White, Hunt, Marcordes, Chamberlain, Tobin, Joe, Braun, and Gotsis. That's 15 by my count. I haven't taken a look at the recent team...
  13. Stats

Also not giving up on our guys. They need our support now more than ever. This isn't an easy game.
  14. Stats

Just was perusing the stats at fbsdrivestats, and there are some things that really stick out to me (not counting FCS games). Not entirely sure the accuracy of the numbers, but we are WAY down on offense (no surprise there) but also worse on defense. First, the offense. This year our yards...
  15. Armchair Coaches... what do you want to see

I want to see the team come out with high energy, but under control. On defense, I want to see similar early results like we had against ND, but without the big busted plays. By and large, I'd be ok with a repeat effort from last saturday. On offense, I want us to score a TD on the first...
  16. 2015 GT draft picks

I think it definitely is a combination of not frequently getting the ball, and when he did get it he did so in a "and short" situation where he was getting hit at the line. I hope he figures it out that if he runs with his head up he may spot a crease to shoot through.
  17. YELLLOOWWWW!!!!!!

Time to get over the Notre Dame negativity and get the dook positive energy flowing. Who's with me? GO JACKETS!!!!
  18. 2015 GT draft picks

Skov just needs to learn to run with his head up instead of down / expecting imminent contact. He tries to bulldoze over the defenders when they aren't even close to him.
  19. Question for the offensive gurus

This. The ideal candidate would be Bey Bey one on one with a defender. When you start bringing in other defenders in the area, its a lot more likely one of them will make a play. When we've got smaller ABs its tougher for them to make a power one on one move, and even more so when the DBs...
  20. 2015 GT draft picks

I don't think Skov has much of a chance to be drafted. He seems to be, at least in my opinion, a lock for signing as a FA somewhere. Gotsis may be the best pro prospect - still don't see him going before the third round, if that. I think at least one team will fall in love with Hunt, just do...
