  1. Most exciting play in Tech history?

Im surprised the 2008 FSU fumble in the End Zone isn't on the list. That was very similar in terms of intensity and excitement and the swing in emotions was far greater (there was no reason to believe FSU wouldn't punch in the game winning TD considering how the rest of the drive had gone).
  2. Why our Bbacks bang their heads against a wall

I guess my question is if there was any reason to believe that the play down the middle would work any differently than it did on 3rd down (or the rest of the game for that matter). I'm genuinely curious. Was there something we saw in the way UNC defended on 3rd down that we thought we could...
  3. Reggie Ball

You don't know too many Tech fans who were on campus during Reggie's time then. I know a couple of people who will still start cursing at the mention of his name. It's kind of pathetic actually, the amount of hatred they hold for someone who despite his flaws gave his all for Tech on the...
  4. They Have Figured Out Paul Johnson's Offense

Of course he should be questioned when he does something wrong/stupid (he had some pretty questionable decisions last year as well which he was questioned about). The problem is that the people who do the "questioning" usually ask inane stuff, such as whether the offense has been figured out...
  5. Hill is still trying

His problem with the Jets was the same as his problem at Tech. He'd make some amazing catches and excite the fans, but then go and drop the easy ones.
  6. Coaches on the Hot Seat

    Automatic rollover? ;)
  7. Coaches on the Hot Seat

The winningest coach in Texas history has a lower buyout than our current coach thanks to an extension negotiated at a time where our coach had no leverage at all. I just cannot make sense of that.
  8. Suguira on tech missing out on Connaughton

Hewitt sucks because he did not want to spend a scholarship on a largely unheralded player playing a position we had 3 Soph players in and did not even recruit. Oh, and we may have lost him to ND anyways. Hewitt had a lot of flaws as a coach and made a lot of mistakes at Tech, but this was...
  9. Hewitt's buyout structure...

My bad. It was a 6 year contract with the amount decreasing. http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/25806/jackets-finally-swallow-hewitts-buyout
  10. Hewitt's buyout structure...

I believe the discrepancy you are seeing was because the way the buyout was structured, in that the amount being paid was increased automatically every year. People are confusing the Hewitt buyout way too much, because it was nothing like any other buyout we've probably encountered. The best...
  11. Will we can Brian Gregory

I do want to add, in all fairness to MBob, that the original contract we signed with CBG did have a provision for the contract to be reviewed at the end of the 2012-2013 season. So he was obligated to do something then. I think the 1 year extension and salary increase was fine, if as @dtm1997...
  12. Will we can Brian Gregory

With the AJC shift, a lot of old links have died. But thank god for the WayBack Machine (or archive.org as it is now): http://web.archive.org/web/20110401040500/http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-tech-sports/2011/03/28/how-much-will-georgia-tech-pay-brian-gregory/ Note that this was apparently an...
  13. Who do we hire?

As an incentive for them to hire him? I'd be okay with that.
  14. Is GT Basketball a Good Job?

Wasn't Hewitt not amongst our top 5 choices? Anyone know the story behind that, and why we couldn't get a top choice coach then? I am ignoring the coaching hire where we got CBG (who clearly also wasn't a top choice) because we were heavily constrained by Hewitt's contract.
  15. Will we can Brian Gregory

+++ I don't know why CBG gets so much credit for getting juniors and seniors as transfers instead of recruiting top notch freshmen, and losing players through suspensions and transfers instead of to the NBA.
  16. Coaches on the Hot Seat

Looks like a Dayton fan. To be fair, Dayton was ready to fire CBG within probably a season at most if we hadn't paid them to take him off their hands.
  17. Who do we hire?

You don't win the ACC 2 years in a row with smoke and mirrors.
  18. UNC Game Thread

Or it could just be that with the results he has had, being humble and meek in post games are really his only options. Even if he was gonna throw players under the bus, what could he say? "The players I recruited in my 4th year play worse than the players I inherited from a program that was...
  19. CTR

Our defense was statistically bad. But this is a scenario where the stats can be misleading. 1) Our d-line has been decimated with injuries, suspensions, and basically a lack of depth. This looks to be changing. Without a strong line, with the caliber of QBs in the ACC (ESPN had a front page...
