A little more perspective about the play:

• The blocked field goal returned for a touchdown is believed to be the first in Tech’s modern history (since 1950) – records do not indicate any previous such play – and is the first time an ACC team blocked a field goal in the final minute of regulation since 2008 when Georgia Tech did it versus Gardner-Webb to preserve a 10-7 win.

• It was the first blocked field goal returned for touchdown in the fourth quarter of a game since 2005 when Boise State did it to Hawai’i in a 28-28 tie with 11:23 remaining. Boise went on for a 44-41 win.

• It also stands as the first blocked field goal returned for a touchdown in the final minute of a game since 2011 when USC did it to Utah. USC was leading at the time 17-14 and won 23-14.

• The blocked field goal represented the first fourth-quarter miss of Aguayo’s All-American career.

• It was the first blocked kick of senior Patrick Gamble’s career and the first TD for sophomore Lance Austin.

• Tech did not lead for the 60 minutes of game time -- its only lead coming as time expired during the blocked field goal return by Lance Austin.

The thing I like best is that Georgia Tech has so many improbable comebacks, upsets, totally unexpected turns of events. It all speaks of Tech teams who fight to the end.

I say 40% chance to win.

Less. I think the guys left everything on the field, all of it, and there was no gas in the tank. The advantage Tech has in OT is the option but it looked about burned out by the end, too. Not being negative, really. It just seemed to me, top to bottom, FSU had more talent deeper and the longer we played the more the odds increased.

A really interesting thing about this is that while Roof's defenses have had some really bad problems with everybody else, in the two games against FSU his defenses allowed only nine points in the second half, all on FGs in the ACCCG, Tech "winning" the halves if you will 26-9, without allowing even one TD. But the first halves we gave up 44 points and "lost" them 44-31. So that in two games we have actually scored three points more. Too bad we can't count them that way. But it is an interesting set of numbers I think which signify maybe nothing.

From what I saw we did all we could do to keep up in 60 min. I feel like if we had to go 5 extra min the game would change a bit. FSU is far deeper and the longer we play the more that impacts the final score.

Sorry, but Scott Sisson's FG with 0:07 left in the game still ranks up there for me against #1 ranked Virginia in 1990. I was there,e and it was the game that vaulted us to the eventual national title that year. As sweet as this one was, that one was bigger because we were unbeaten as well at the time and they were #1.

Gary Lee's kickoff return vs. the dwags in the fog was pretty good
Tisdel vs. Clemson in 1990 was a good one too, but this one is pretty special no doubt.

My dad was at that game! Said you barely see the field it was so foggy.

I didn't make a negative comment. Just in touch with reality. No one gave us a shot to win that game and our guys did what it took. I am proud of them for it. But you can't say depth is not an issue for us right now.

Im surprised the 2008 FSU fumble in the End Zone isn't on the list.

That was very similar in terms of intensity and excitement and the swing in emotions was far greater (there was no reason to believe FSU wouldn't punch in the game winning TD considering how the rest of the drive had gone).

I was at that game too, and your dad is right. It was referred to as Gary Lee's run "out of the fog". It was amazing, but it still pales in comparison to the one Saturday night.

That is possible but I much prefer the scoop and score. I would rather not leave it to chance

The Dennis Scott steal, spin, 3 pointer to beat UNC ranks up there with it. But for football alone?....yeah that's probably the single most exciting play I've seen on the grid iron.

I was there for that as a student. I got a ticket from a season ticket holder and was among the alums, not students. Guy next to me gave me a bear hug as soon as Dennis Scott drained the three. The atmosphere was electric.

Saturday was amazing, but the 1990 UVA game remains the very best football game I've ever seen. Full stop.

I think our depth showed well. I was concerned with who we had left to play for OT, especially on defense. We needed a Army MASH unit for all of our injured guys.

I was there for that as a student. I got a ticket from a season ticket holder and was among the alums, not students. Guy next to me gave me a bear hug as soon as Dennis Scott drained the three. The atmosphere was electric.

I was blessed to be there also. My pop bought season tickets for years and I got to see more great Bball back then than I deserved. That was an amazing play and the tit went absolutely bonkers. A memory I'll never forget.
