Georgia Tech vs. Duke Predictions #GTvsDUKE

Duke 31 - Tech 17 I think our O looks a little better, but our D continues to struggle against a coaching staff that knows how to take advantage of our personnel issues

Has fan apathy already set in?

This is pretty much where I am. As someone earlier mentioned, losing sucks but we seem to be losing in a particularly joyless way right now. I had pretty low expectations this season (like 3 wins) but I thought we'd be a little more fun to watch as we grew into the new offense.

    Tough September for GT

I really hope Collins can turn it around in football. We'll essentially be among the worst power 5 sports program the next couple of years and it's easy to get stuck there

The offensive problems and bright spots

Maybe that's the problem. Why are we doing downfield so much when our O-line can't block? Where are the screens and short crossing patterns that get the ball out quickly?

    Dabo’s Thoughts

I guess if you think 54% is 'in the gutter', we'll have to disagree. Room for improvement, but there's plenty of room to drop.

    Dabo’s Thoughts

I don't really care what Finebaum says, but it's annoying when Tech fans say it as if it's true.

    Dabo’s Thoughts

Those are not equal things. Not a title contender != being in the gutter Over the last 7 years, we've been bad, good and in-between. Only the 3-9 season would I consider 'in the gutter'

Coach Collins has lost to a FCS school two straight years

I do disagree. I think the rule changes made an 11 win season unlikely, but I would have expected at least 6 wins against this schedule, with a chance at 9 if things broke out way. That said, PJ is gone, so it doesn't really matter. I had hoped that our current staff was good enough to...

    GT (-34) vs. The Citadel

That wasn't just his buyout. FSU paid Oregon >5 million to cover his buyout there and the previous buyout Ore was paying for. The 30 mil over the 2 years was all that cost, plus the salaries and buyout at the end of this season.

    GT (-34) vs. The Citadel

Can they afford to? I saw somewhere they would have spent like 30 million for 2 years if they fire him after this season. Their finances are better than ours, but I'm not sure they can absorb another big hit

    QB Situation

This is my big concern. 3 QBs getting first team snaps in practice is a lot less reps for each.

    ACC 2019-2020

Restating the obvious, but that is not where you want to see a team going into the coach's fourth year. Our lost decade turning into a lost generation

Coaching Acumen of the Previous Staff...

This thread is s good example of why I spend very little time on the board recently. I'm excited about the new staff but every thread is full of fonts crapping on Johnson. I guess I'll tune back in the fall when we have actual football to talk about

    Previous Offense and Recruiting

    Our SOS in Johnson's best years: 2009 (11-3) 17th, 2014 (11-3) was 26th, 2016 (9-4) 38th Our SOS in Gailey's best year 2006 (9-5) was 42nd. I don't doubt that Gailey on average faced a tougher schedule, but I think it's overblown by people who like to #$#$ on Johnson's success here.

    Attrition and Scholarship Limits

If you believe that, then you should be for unrestricted transfers. If schools can cut a player at any time, that player should be able to move to another school at any time with no penalty.

    Attrition and Scholarship Limits

I think it's entirely fair for a coach to tell a player that he's not a big part of the program's future, and if wants playing time he should look into transferring. If he's focused on the Tech degree and is willing to take a smaller role, I would be disappointed if we tried to force him into a...
